hether you consider yourself a lothario or are more on the conservative side, chances are you can confidently say you know a thing or two about sex. But few topics are more steeped in misinformation than lovemaking, so to set the record straight, we culled some fascinating facts that may very well surprise you.

1. Single people are definitely getting some. According to one survey, unmarried men

and women report have sex four times a month on average. Married folks get it on seven times a month, but we bet it’s the same old, same old.

2. We’ve got your number. Ever been tempted to ask someone “So, how many people have you slept with?” A survey by Durex condoms just saved you the trouble. They found out that men, on average, have 10.2 sexual partners in their lifetime; women 6.9.

3. Guess who’s making the first move? Research shows that men initiate sex twice as many times as women.

4. Ladies, beware the condom he’s carrying. Of course you two should use protection, but know this: A condom will last about a month when stored in a wallet; any longer and it’s more likely to break.

5. One-night stands aren’t just for a few free spirits. According to one survey, 44 percent of adults have had a one-night stand.

8. And aphrodisiacs don’t really exist. You know that old wisdom about eating oysters and whatnot to rev your libido? Time to let it go. According to a review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), no purported aphrodisiac has been scientifically proven to be effective at meeting its claims.

9. Need an excuse to go to work? Seventy percent of all CEOs surveyed say that it’s OK for employees to hook up, so flirting with that cute guy/girl in accounting is probably just fine.

10. Seduction can cost a pretty penny. The average cost of a sexy bra and panty set? $75.64. The average cost for briefs and a t-shirt? $4.95. Unfair? Yes, but well worth it.
