he trend is in—health, fitness and feeling good are everywhere. Today, more than ever, singles are working out to relax, manage stress and meet new people.

So why not use it to your advantage, too? Skip the couch potato scene, where meeting someone new seems nearly impossible. Instead, break out those shorts, sweats and tees, and get ready to meet the man or woman of your dreams!

Let’s get physical
The local gym or outdoor sports offer not only a way to build muscle and burn calories, but also a chance to meet members of the opposite sex. A quick tour of nearly any fitness club around 6 p.m. will unearth a variety of men and women lifting weights, Zumba-dancing and scoping out other members.
Break out those shorts, sweats and tees, and get ready to meet the man or woman of your dreams!

Pack your workout gear and get ready to learn the ropes because the best approach includes a request for instruction. Ask someone you’re attracted to how to run the treadmill, the best number of reps or the benefit of aerobic vs. anaerobic exercise. Follow up with a meeting at the juice bar. Your pecs will be packed, and so will your phone book!

Hit the trails
For those of you not into the indoor workout scene, scope the area for your city’s hottest outdoor fitness area—with miles of running track and even more singles. They’ll be blading, biking, hiking and jogging, and waiting to meet someone new.

Are you a jogger? Inquire about minute-per-mile speed. A skater? Ask about the benefit of knee and elbow pads. Find someone who shares your passion, and develop a new fitness regime together!

A league of your own
Organized athletics is a great way to kick back after a long day at the office. It’s an even better way to meet a great collection of singles competing on teams and having fun. You’ll need no opening line here; simple competition opens the door to easy conversation. Check your workplace for volleyball, softball and bowling leagues—and get the ball rolling!

An organized run for love
It’s early morning; you’re surrounded by singles in tights and skimpy clothing. A racy after-hours party? Hardly. You’re at your city’s latest organized charity run/walk where thousands of people rise early to run or walk at least three miles. The opportunities here are limitless—ask about their reason for attending, number of runs they’ve participated in, strategies for keeping stamina, or if they’d like a running partner.

Both pros and novices of the single set can benefit from a good workout—in more ways than one. So get out there and have fun!
