Online Dating-(n)- A service used by singles, those pretending to be single, and the newly divorced to communicate with potential dates, leading them to conclude that remaining single isn't an entirely bad idea.

Hang in there for only another minute and tell me if this isn't spot on....

I'm certain there's more to online dating than uber enthusiastic prospective dates who suddenly disappear (mid-email) , never-ending reasons for not meeting, aged photos, email pen pals, cliche ridden profiles, old flames that don't extinguish, tedious job interviews (aka coffee dates) with serial daters ..

Wait, read on .... you may start to recognize some of these concepts..

If a scant percent of what was written in portraits were true - wouldn't there be a waiting list to join any gym...

....shouldn't gas prices be plummeting as men and women hop on their motorcycles instead of driving honking four ton SUVs..

..the self-help industry would become obsolete due to the great communication skills between men and women..

..hiking trails would be so dangerously overcrowded the government would add toll booths and impose single file walking rules..

..movie theaters would be bankrupt as couples spoon and cuddle to rented movies ....

..and there would be no more bars -- because everyone is "sick of that scene"...

So then, what about me?

My friends say I look just like my pictures (hehe). I am good at writing long run-on sentences with bad grammar. I enjoy hiking, work out at the gym at least three times per year and reading whatever book Oprah's recommending.

For fun I like to go out or stay in -- though I'm equally at ease in a tuxedo or jeans. I have several kids that I see at least once per quarter - or my babysitter does.

So why am I here?

Probably for the same reason I've found some others are - .. I'm looking for my soul mate....or the BBD (Bigger and Better Deal)...whichever comes along first.

But I've saved the best for last....

Oh yeah -- "friends first" -- aka " let me get a look at you in person first... "

....does the online daters handbook mandate that all profiles include "my friends would say..." ?

And if your favorite outfit is leather pants and a halter top, don't bother writing, just come and pick up your ring.

...sorry about that, couldn't resist, just one last thing before I slip into my Star Trek convention costume, if they're funny, love to laugh and a good catch - their profile is going to show it .....
