I'm likely one of the happier people you've met. I'm eternally optimistic and have a tendency to use the word awesome a little too much (even though it's earnest usage!). I'm unfailingly honest and transparent. Friends tend to describe me as caring, affectionate, honest, and positive.
Friends and family are crucially important to me and I spend a lot of time sharing with them, caring for them, and playing around! My favorite non-work activities include running/cycling/yoga/other sports, cooking, doing crossword puzzles, and chatting over tea, coffee, or wine. I enjoy cooking and baking for people, and with people. Having people over to my house to cook, eat, and laugh is a pretty stellar afternoon for me. I do love food and have a strong interest in the food system and food justice.
I express myself physically. I love to do things that challenge my body in different ways (endurance running and cycling, rock climbing, yoga, trampolining), and I connect with people through physical touch. Ultrarunning has become a big part of my life because of the pure joy of feeling like a child running up and down and over trails, because of the amazing people I've met on the trails, and because really, who wouldn't want to run 100 miles? :) (Update - now that I'm injured, I'm trying to find that same joy through yoga and swimming...)
I'm in a really fun spot in life right now, in the middle of two careers. I've been working in the environmental consulting/dispute resolution field for a decade, but recently started a masters program in traditional Chinese medicine. So, in several years I'm hoping to begin practicing acupuncture, prescribing herbs, and incorporating massage into my practice. It's fun to have both careers right now; perhaps eventually I'll give up one to focus on the other but I'm enjoying being over-stimulated right now.
I love words. Typos make me laugh. New words intrigue me. Great use of language and a strong intellect are absolutely turn-ons for me.
I'm looking for someone who can challenge me intellectually and, ideally, physically. In a perfect world, my mate would be close to his family, career-driven, alternately serious and silly, interested in spending time doing stuff (whether it's athletic or not, I'm not interested in spending time with someone who just likes to sit on the couch), passionate about multiple things, and open-minded. I'm looking for someone who's equally happy reading an interesting book or the weekend NYTimes as spending a weekend running, cycling, and camping. A bit of an interest in travel is a plus -- I think that seeing new things and having new experiences is fundamental to personal growth.
Lastly, I want to be with someone who wants to have kids. I've always known that I want children and I have a strong caring/maternal instinct.
