... Kindness, humor, patience, together-ness, a life that makes you happy, self-awareness and the ability to evolve, compassion, joy, authenticity, non-judgement...
It's really informative to see how so many different people see themselves on here, what you each choose to say, *how you say it. And definitely interesting, if not a little challenging, to clarify what I actually think of myself and how I want to be seen, out of context, by a world of people I know nothing about on a computer screen. All pretty neat, a learning experience for sure! So... I think I believe these things... I work hard and a lot, doing a lot of really different things... I'm a chef, run a food charity and also emergency dispatch... and I love my eclectic life. I've been drawn to intense work and do well staying focused and positive in chaotic situations. The non-work parts of my life are pretty chaos-free, I get enough intensity at work! Sometimes I'm tired, but mostly I'm smiling, optimistic and energetic. I'm simple (not in the IQ sorta way, but in a "joy from the smallest moments" kinda way). I love my friends and my community. I tend to engage fully, head on, sometimes with fear, but always with my eyes as open as they can be. My tastes are pretty humble; friends, road trips, camping, living next to the water, picking vegetables from the garden, dinner parties, music with great friends, being appreciative for all that I get to have in this life. I feel best when moving, seeing, tasting, trying. Life is a dance. But downtime is important too. I love food, and a big spend for me generally involves grocery shopping. Or hunting for records at a thrift store. Or presents for other people because it's 'that perfect thing' you know they'll love, you know? I love to sew, bake, preserve food, make things with my hands and learn new things. I also really like being good at things, but enjoy the process almost as much as the outcome. I love people, connecting, finding the things that bring us together, and I believe we're all more alike than we are different. I'm not a teflon kind of person, I'm probably overly empathetic and tend to be really good at anticipating others' needs, sometimes at the expense of my own, and I'm learning to love this part of myself without having it define me. I love to laugh, even though I sometimes take myself very, very seriously. I am working on this. :) Perspective is everything.
I don't know you, but I hope that you love your life too, that you are the captain of your own ship, and that you are always looking for opportunities to explore, both yourself and the world. On the high seas or in the back yard, life is a grand adventure... You have probably been in a committed relationship and know as much what you don't want in a partner as what you do. Like me, you are capable of missteps (because we're all human, right? I hope?)... and you know how to own them and keep going. You can see perfection in our imperfection and you face the world knowing that every day is a chance to do the most that you can with what you have. However imperfectly.
There is far too much about you and I both to put in a little box on a computer screen. If I click, and you click, then...? Real life is the best life.
