You can take a boy out of North Dakota but you can't take North Dakota out of the boy! My most prized possession is still a trophy with a golden chicken atop from when I was the Grand Champion Poultry Showman of Cass County, North Dakota (I know, pretty hot, huh?). It's been awhile since I last picked up a chicken and worked my magic, but Heartland values are still key to who I am. I'm basically a tall, broad-shouldered, open-minded, kind, polite, all-around amazing guy. Hope I didn't oversell that :)
So what is a country boy doing in the PNW? Well, a strong sense of adventure brought me from my small hometown, to college in Minneapolis, to Washington DC working on Capitol Hill, and finally to the Seattle metro where I’ve lived and worked for the last five or so years.
I have never been in want of adventure here. I love the Pacific Northwest. I enjoy hiking, camping, boating, snowmobiling, and other activities. I also love travelling. I travelled to 9 national parks in the last year—from the Everglades to Yosemite. I’ve toured parts of Europe and Asia, but South America, Africa, and Australia/New Zealand are definitely on my list.
Careerwise, I like what I do and I've been fortunate to enjoy a lot of success. I put a premium on having a good work-life balance, though my job can be a bit demanding at times.
I’m ‘Midwest nice’ and naturally friendly. And, no, I don’t really talk with the accent that you hear in the film “Fargo” (ok, maybe just a little :). I am a firm believer that Oregon should be pronounced with a hard GON (as in paragon). I’m generally an optimist and positive thinker, but I also keep it pretty real. If you didn't notice it, I have kind of a silly sense of humor.
So, what am I looking for?
First and foremost, I’m looking for a girl with a strong character and respect for herself. The kind of respect that’s evident in the way she approaches her career, lifestyle, and appearance. On the other hand, I’m looking for a girl that doesn’t take life too seriously and can let her hair down and have some fun.
I want someone that I can connect with on an emotional and intellectual level. Kindness, humility, compassion, empathy, mutual respect and all that other good stuff is important.
