...I am a paleontologist, but not quite so ditzy. I’ve moved around a lot and lived in some of the biggest cities and smallest towns in the US, but I still haven’t figured out if I’d rather live in the city or the countryside. I think I’m leaning towards the countryside, but easy access to good Indonesian food, for example, would be hard to give up. For now the Peninsula is perfectly lovely, although I do find myself in San Francisco a lot. The Midpeninsula Open Space Preserves are amazing and it’s awesome to have wild lands so close to home. I like being outdoors to enjoy fresh air, beauty, quiet and solitude (or the company of a great companion). I’m not into outdoor activities that require so much concentration that I can’t enjoy my surroundings. This means that I prefer cross country skiing and snowshoeing to downhill skiing and snowboarding, hiking to rock climbing, backpacking to mountaineering. Also, I don’t have anything to prove with my outdoorsiness. This not to say that I only like easy day hikes, but I really prefer taking my time to smell the trees. By the way, as far as I can tell the whole of Alaska smells like black spruce trees, which is awesome! I’m looking for a partner in life exploration. I particularly enjoy exploring life through food, books, lounging in city parks, live music, walks in the woods, listening to good storytelling and people watching. Beyond finding someone with similar interests, values, etc., I’m looking for someone who can also introduce me to new life experiences that I have missed through my own unawareness. Most importantly, though, I’m looking for a strong personal connection. I don’t, however, expect such a connection to pop up fully formed on a first date.
