ABOUT HIM & WHO HE'S LOOKING FOR

It's impossible to completely summarize an entire human being into just a few short paragraphs; however, I will try my best to give you an idea of who I am in less than 4000 characters.

About me:

I am originally from Oklahoma. Specifically, I am from the Osage Nation Indian Reservation which is located in Oklahoma. My dad is Scotch-Irish and my mom is Osage....I call it Osish. A 1940's German geneticist couldn't have come up with that particular combination! Nevertheless, I love my family and am very proud of where and who I come from.

Like most Americans I tend to derive much of my identity from my job, so I suppose I should start by stating that I am a former paramedic. I know that sounds weird, I'll explain more in a minute. I absolutely loved my job. It was rewarding, thrilling, and I derived an immense amount of pride from putting on my uniform and helping people. Plus the free baked goods that people would occasionally bring to the station was a pretty nice perk. However, after six years in EMS I hit a career ceiling and no longer felt challenged. The problem with EMS is there is little room to grow professionally. After a certain number of years you top out and then it's pretty much groundhog day for the next 20 years; because honestly one heart attack patient is pretty much like the million and a half others that you've treated. I loathe monotony so I decided to go back to school and change careers. I studied for the LSAT between shifts at work, took the exam, and am now attending the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I have come to love the law every bit as much as I loved EMS. Every day I feel challenged intellectually, which is precisely what I was hoping for when I chose to study law. It has been quite the adventure these last two and and a half years and I do not regret a moment of it. I am thrilled to be writing this new chapter in life and cannot wait to graduate and start practicing law, even though that will mean I went from driving ambulances to chasing them. Trust me, I see the irony. I graduate this May and will be moving to Rapid City to start my legal career.

My number one passion in life is powwowing. Just about every summer weekend since I was a kid has been spent driving all over Oklahoma dancing in powwows. I am a southern straight style powwow dancer and I like to think that I can hold my own in the arena. Even when it's not powwow season it seems as though my world revolves around powwow. I am extraordinarily blessed to have a plethora of amazing traditional artists in my family and as a result I spend most of my free time during fall and winter learning from them by working on the next season's powwow regalia. I am nowhere near as talented as most of my family is but they patiently put up with me despite my artistic mediocrity.

I'm very much a "guy's guy." I love watching baseball and college football. If you're a Longhorn or a Cowboy be forewarned that I am a rabid Sooners fan! I took metal shop and wood shop in high school and worked as a construction laborer for many years. As a result, I love strapping on a tool belt and working on DIY projects. I have a secret desire to design and build my own house one day. My grandparent's house was built by my grandfather, which makes it a particularly special place and I would love to follow in his footsteps.

My ideal match:

Someone who can grow to become my best friend. Forever is a pretty long time and at 90 the superficial trappings that seemed so important in your 20's just aren't anymore. So if you're the kind of woman who could see herself having wheelchair races with me in the hallways of our nursing home and sword fights with our canes when we are both old and decrepit, then you're my kind of gal.

Interests:
Book club, Coffee and conversation, Movies/Videos, Museums and art, Music and concerts, Exploring new areas, Political interests, Religion/Spiritual, Travel/Sightseeing, Watching sports
Sports & exercise:
Baseball, Football, Golf, Weights / Machines
Exercise habits:
I exercise 1-2 times per week
Pets:
Pet Essay:

I actually have a dog, sort of. When I moved to Minnesota I decided to live downtown in order to be close to school. Unfortunately I couldn't find an apartment that allowed large dogs. So, my beloved boxer named Athena is now with my brother.

Political views:
Middle of the Road
Sign:
I don't believe in astrology
College:
Rogers State University, Claremore, OK
For fun:

I love watching live ball games; be it basketball, football, baseball, whatever! In addition I love going to the occasional museum as well. However, school keeps me fairly busy, so I haven't been able to partake in any of these activities lately

Favorite hot spots:

Home sweet Oklahoma! I also spent last summer interning in Washington D.C. which was pretty amazing as well.

Favorite things:

As far as music goes I'm a big fan of the late 90's. Mostly because that's when I went to high school and thus it's the music of my adolescence. My all time favorite band is a two way tie between the Dave Matthews Band and Sublime.
