I asked my friend how I should describe myself and her initial response was “at some point you have to tell him you’re a smartypants.” Right, so I guess that’s a good enough place to start. I love learning about anything. Really, anything. I’m also very committed to my work and hope to be a leading scholar in my field (someday).
Now that sound like a total nerd, you should know that because I work really hard I enjoy whatever free time I have. Favorite weekend activities include going out with friends, watching whatever sporting event is on, or just chilling on my patio with a glass of wine on a warm evening. If it’s warm, I love to be outside whether it’s taking my dog for a walk, watching a baseball game, or playing a pickup game of soccer. I hate being cold, but I love to ski and snowboard. I randomly speak with an Irish accent (sometimes in Spanish, though this is quite rare and should really be recorded).
I’m a real girly-girl, but I am not high-maintenance…I swear. I love to put on a dress and a pair of heels; somedays it may be my favorite part of teaching, lol. At the same time, I have no problem getting dirty. I mow my own lawn, shovel my own snow, and can change the oil in my car (even though I usually let the dealership do it because it’s cheap and I don’t have a garage). Speaking of garages, someday I will have one and I will be able to restore a ’65 Mustang (yes, I know they are girly cars, but I am a girl).
Random things I've been known to do: quote Shakespeare and Lady Gaga in the same sentence. Sing and dance in the rain. Eat all of the cereal before the marshmallows in my Lucky Charms.
I don’t really have a ‘type’ but I have a few basic things that are priorities—Ambition: you don’t have to have everything planned out, but have some goals in life. Curiosity: be willing to try new things. Respect: You should be supportive of me, as I will be of you. This also means that if we ever meet, you look me in the eyes and not somewhere else. My big pet peeve? Grown men who behave like 19-yr old frat boys. Do your thing with the guys; I don’t care, but know how to behave responsibly when it’s time to be an adult.
