I'm going to word vomit for the next few paragraphs, so hopefully the randomness isn't too random. I'm currently leading a happy life. My job these days lets me laugh 'til I cry on a regular basis. My grad school classes make me want to learn continuously, be a better local/national/global citizen, and at times get really upset with politics. My friends are crazy, and I love them for it. Pretty sure my computer-science brothers rubbed off their nerdiness on me (fan of Ender's Game, X-Men, LoTR) and my sister and mom keep me hooked on chocolate. (I can blame them, right?) What did I get from my dad? Probably my love of animals and the outdoors. He's like a nature-whisperer. Growing up I used to tell my mom I wanted to live in a cabin in the middle of the woods so I wouldn't have to deal with people...and now I'm becoming a social worker, go figure. I would still love to have a cabin, preferably on Lake Superior, where I'd sit on my porch and read book after book. I have a desire to travel, everywhere. Studying abroad in Spain was probably the best experience of my life to date. In undergrad, I used to dream of being an ethnographer. How awesome would that be to travel places and learn about different cultures as your profession?! My grad program has kept me from getting away on the weekends for the past couple years, (but I'm almost done!!) and I can't wait until I can go backpacking along the North Shore again. I love dark beer. I'll eat sushi as often as possible. I recently experienced rock climbing at Vertical Endeavors and have now become hooked...shoes, harness, chalk bag in the mail as we speak. I have a weird obsession with photographing street lamps. I dislike spelling errors and incorrect grammar. I've become a fan of running, but not in races. I like that time by myself. I watch Seinfeld, and each episode is still funny every time I see it. Other tv faves are Arrested Development and New Girl. I listen to almost any kind of music, except maybe heavy metal. Some current favorites are Glen Hansard, Brandi Carlile, and Quietdrive. But my eclectic tastes also include Atmosphere, Miranda Lambert, Nirvana, Patsy Cline, and soundtracks by John Williams. Props to Pandora and Spotify. I'm looking for someone who loves learning, reading, trying something new. Being open-minded, an outdoorsman, and a good speller are all great qualities, along with having confidence, follow-through and optimism. I also love a sarcastic sense of humor! Ok, so I guess the good speller thing is a bit much...basically I'm saying I find intelligence attractive. If you got through all of this and find yourself intrigued, send me a message and tell me about yourself!
