ABOUT HER & WHO SHE'S LOOKING FOR

I'm dynamic. That's something to know about me right away. I'm always learning, improving, changing, because I want to be the best person I can be and also because, well, I can't really help it. I believe in my potential as a human being and that I have much to offer the world. I see my self-development as a responsibility to myself, those in my immediate circle, and those I will meet in the future. I'm of the mind that working diligently on oneself has the incidental effect of making those in close vicinity better, too.

I'll be in law school this fall. I am an artist, thinker, and scholar at heart, but I feel the need to engage in professional work that will essentially be helpful and constructive to others. For this reason, Public Service work is a likely practice area for me. Of course Sports and Entertainment Law presents itself, too, as a potential practice area, given my artistic nature. Whatever I do, I do believe I should be out in the world interacting with others, and hopefully being a force of good and change in their lives; the artist is notorious for burrowing herself in unfindable holes. I've certainly done so in my life, but I think I should, perhaps, mix and mingle a bit.

Confession: I'm a writer with a large vocabulary. It's a confession because I don't think many people find my vocabulary charming. I've often been asked to "speak English," as my speaking or writing has been considered overwrought, to which I've said, "OK, world; I'll work on 'speaking English, whatever that means.'" I am working on publishing my first poetry collection, and hope it will be available by the end of this summer. It's been an ongoing project for many years now, but between school, life, and feeling somewhat unready, the project seems to be coming into fruition some years after the germ of the idea spawned. My next project, after getting my first book published, is continuing to work on my first novel.

I've played saxophone for fifteen years, but somehow have not been playing much lately. As with my writing, life has gotten in the way; I spent the last several months preparing for the LSAT and applying to law schools, a process that did not leave much time for creative pursuits. I do still love the instrument, though, and would love to record an album, or something. I'm very interested lately in learning guitar and bass, improving my singing voice, and learning how to write songs. As with writing, where I moved from poetry to fiction, in music, I seem to be moving from saxophone/jazz to voice, guitar and songwriting. I suppose there are phases in every artist's life and career.

I have a budding interest in comedy, but at this point, I mostly just listen to a lot of comedy albums and watch a lot of stand-up. Comedians have a skill of finding in the mundane and uninspiring expanse of existence something uproariously enlightening. I think laughing is essential to sanity, and enjoyable to boot.

Another budding interest is animals. I've been an animal lover since I was a child, and I have toyed with, early in my life and more recently, the idea of being a veterinarian. However, it seems I have my plate full with my creative pursuits and the legal career I am embarking on. I do suffer from being passionate about so many things that I don't know how to fulfill myself in each of them.

I love my family and am very committed to them. If we become serious, you will soon see that I am fiercely loyal and committed to you, too. I think my relationships are my currency; they are what make my life unendingly rich and rewarding. You'll also find that I'll want to help you and stand by you through whatever your challenges are, and I would hope that you would do the same for me. We need to support one another at all costs. Life is hard, and we need to stick together.

I'm one ambitious bugger, but I'll love you to death, and we'll have a lot of fun together. Let's see if we hit it off!
