I have read numerous profiles outlining happy contradictions (e.g., “laid-back” and “driven;” “outgoing” but “shy;” or some version of “just as happy going out as…”), so here are a few of mine. I am a Southern gentleman with a healthy disdain for social conventions; I love college football and Downton Abbey; and I am alternately described as reserved and an above-average public speaker. However, I am not “equally comfortable in jeans or a suit” and I am more than a little skeptical of anyone who claims to be (though I do own and have been known to wear both as the occasion requires). I take my family, friends, and work, but not myself, very seriously.
Sadly, I spend a good deal less time perched on mountainsides than my pictures might suggest, but I do like being outdoors and active and I’m not too picky about the particulars. I do a bit of reading, but that does not photograph nearly as well! Generally, I prefer a quiet drink over a club and cooking with friends over glitzy events.
Whom would I like to meet? Some of the traits I most admire include intellectual curiosity, integrity, mischief, empathy, strength (as distinct from rigidity), wit, and social conscience. I’m looking for someone with a wicked humor, an inner nerd, and the ability to make a better cup of coffee than I can.
