ABOUT HER & WHO SHE'S LOOKING FOR

My subscription has expired. Good luck to everyone in their search.

I'm quick to laugh and laugh loudly. I wear my heart on my sleeve. I am 1 part hippie, 1 part techie/nerd, 1 part creative type. I make websites for a living, and time permitting I donate website services to non-profits. I have an insatiable desire to learn. I'm in absolute awe of our world and sometimes find myself frustrated with how a lifetime isn't sufficient to learn/experience it all. I geek out over any branch of science. I LOVE spending time outdoors...exploring, getting my hands dirty, diving into waves...observing, appreciating.

I am typically a very happy person, even when circumstances could be better...stubbornly optimistic, even. I don't hold onto grudges. I see negative experiences as something that helps forge someone and to be used as a learning tool for the future.

Though it hasn't always been so, healthy eating is very important to me. I try to eat as much whole foods as possible. I care for the environment and my impact on it. My hope is to ultimately find a personal balance between permaculture and modern life (hoping that a paradigm shift in society finally embraces permaculture). I'd really like to try to build a COB structure. This year, I set a personal challenge of trying to grow most of my food. It has been a FANTASTIC learning experience. I've harvested tons of food, learned about companion planting, scheduling, soil, plant diseases (I've been hit with BOTH downy and powdery mildew!), etc. Watching my kids see the food connection and learn the value of sustained efforts was indescribable. I'm vegan; they are vegan/vegetarian.

I spend a lot of time thinking that modern society is prohibitive to true happiness and enlightenment. (I think I underestimated my hippie ratio ;) I loathe that everything is about chasing the almighty dollar. I wish we could reinstitute the village structure, stop supporting corporations, become self-sustainable and actually spend time expanding our minds instead of our wallets. I want personal fulfillment & growth, not a fat paycheck at the expense of the environment and our health, happiness and mental well-being. Everything has become a commodity. I often want to chuck it all and move to an eco-village (read: they aren't cults, if you're unfamiliar). If there was one in the area, I would very seriously consider it. If my life calms down, then I just may start one myself.

I've done without and learned to dance in the rain. I've had some pretty incredulous hardships throughout much of my life, but they've formed me into a very strong person both physically and emotionally. As a result, I realized how material goods hold little importance and instead seek connection, fulfillment, love, inner peace, knowledge and taking steps to become the best version of myself I can. I take pleasure in the "small" things: A singing bird, a smile from a stranger, a loving glance between an elderly couple that relays an entire paragraph, my kids' eyes lighting up when I teach them something new, watching food grow (I actually squealed with delight every time I saw a new plant emerge or start to fruit ), a nicker from my horse, wind at my back, a powerful thundestorm. It all makes me so ridiculously happy, that I can withstand raining fire. It's all about perspective.

A few random facts:
- I used to live at 11,300 ft above sea level.
- I'd describe myself as a constitutionalist /libertarian, but I see it as a hopelessly broken system
- I have really good aim (and am quick to pick up a sport)
- I'm competitive, but not obnoxiously so
- I'm a people pleaser, which isn't necessarily a good thing

He is very kind, funny, intelligent and genuine. He sparks critical thinking, is quick to laugh, and open to trying new things. He is confident in who is he, but is open to learning about himself and personal growth. Honesty and integrity are vital. Hopefully he shares some of my passions

Learning! Anything athletic: skiing, hiking, swimming, tennis, horse back riding; laughing; spending time with or volunteering for animals...even if it is just mucking out a stall; reading; singing & musicals; intellectual conversations; being silly

Favorite hot spots:

I live on an idyllic horse farm, so I'm pretty content staying home, but I'm always up to go out.. Mountains, oceans (actually in the ocean...I'll never understand people that go to the beach without swimming), anything outdoors.

Favorite things:

Smiling at strangers and receiving a genuine smile back. It sounds very simple, but it gets me every time. I don't have cable anymore, but I love Firefly, Community, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory and any type of documentary.

Last read:

Mel's Square Foot Gardening. I absolutely love reading, but haven't had time in the last few years. In the meantime, I can rock a Doctor Seuss book like no other ;) I've added melodies and overly dramatic (campy) affects to the doc's words.

I envy those that are religious, because of the peace of mind it seems to bring them. Though I've tried, I still haven't been able to feel at home within a religion, but I certainly don't rule it out.
