Proust questionnaire. My answers in ALL CAPS:
1. What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? DATING A MAN WHO COMPLAINS ABOUT EVERYTHING.
2. Where would you like to live? I WOULD LOVE TO LIVE IN PARIS AGAIN, OR HONG KONG IF MY PLACE WERE BIGGER THAN A SHOEBOX.
3. What is your idea of earthly happiness? HANGING OUT WITH MY NIECE AND NEPHEW, THE BLUE SKIES OF LOS ANGELES THE DAY AFTER A RAIN STORM, TAKING MY BRA OFF AT THE END OF A DAY. (I'M NOT TRYING TO BE NAUGHTY HERE. THE FEELING IS EXTREMELY LIBERATING.)
4. Who are your favorite heroes of fiction? EMMA BOVARY (19th CENTURY RICH FRENCH HOUSEWIVES WERE UNEQUIVOCALLY NUTS), CAL (EAST OF EDEN).
5. Who are your favorite characters in history? HILLARY CLINTON (BECAUSE SHE'S STILL MAKING HISTORY), NAPOLEON BONAPARTE (BECAUSE HE WAS BOTH INSANELY AMBITIOUS AND STUPID AT THE SAME TIME).
6. The quality you most admire in a man? HONESTY, HUMOR, INTELLIGENCE, LOYALTY.
7. Your favorite occupation? SPENDING TIME WITH MY FAMILY, HANGING OUT WITH FRIENDS IN QUIET PLACES SO I CAN HEAR THEM (I HATE BARS/CLUBS BECAUSE YOU CAN'T HAVE DECENT CONVERSATIONS THERE), COOKING, MEANDERING IN NEW NEIGHBORHOODS, YOGA, LAZY SUNDAYS.
8. What is your principle defect? I FOLLOW WHAT MY HEAD SAYS MORE THAN MY HEART.
9. What is your present state of mind? PERPLEXED. I AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO MAKE FOR DINNER TONIGHT.
10. What is your motto? "NO WORRIES"
I'm a drama-free woman with a doctorate degree. Hope you're not intimidated by that. For someone who grew up in L.A., I'm amazingly un-L.A. In other words- natural and not vain.
