ABOUT HIM & WHO HE'S LOOKING FOR

Alright! Let's do this! Keyboard check one two... one two...

Once upon a time… just kidding. Honestly, I’ve been going back and forth on what to jot down, knowing anything I write is just some marketable version of me. The profile won’t do me justice as it’s just a snapshot. I have all these great qualities but it’s funny how we distill ourselves into these generic templates to find somebody special. Am I kind? Yes. Am I fun loving? But of course. Am I positive Positively! I’m also an aggregate of all my mistakes. I am by no means perfect. I grow everyday though. I suppose it’s safe to say I’m a work in progress and I believe in continuous improvement.

Online dating has been interesting but I admit it’s odd how mechanical and disposable it feels at times. I’m not much for winking. Usually when I favorite someone, it’s by accident with a clumsy thumb as I browse on my iPad. I’m curious what people write as they exchange messages. It’s been my personal experience that the person receiving the message complains about generic messages of “hello’s” and "how do you do’s". They lecture about only responding to a message that actually took time to craft only to fail to return any response. It’s a wonder that anyone bothers to put any time into it at all. Perhaps it’s a jaded or cynical view, I’d love to compare experiences. Hopefully, that doesn't sound pretentious or melancholy.

I’m still an optimist. Here’s some simple details about me. I’m calm and easygoing. I have a strong sense of me. I’m thoughtful and I love to make people smile. I crack jokes at my own expense just to get a laugh. I can be serious given the proper context but the whole “life is short” factor also bears weight. I love to communicate in all forms. I love writing or sharing a conversation over a cup of coffee or tea. I think quick on my feet and I’m told I’m witty. I’m an assortment of adjectives that include playful, goofy, ambitious, hard-working, and studious. I’m even a cheesy romantic at times. The truth is there are so many more ways to describe me but you’ll have to explore who I am. Feel free to deconstruct me!

I want a strong, mature, loving relationship filled with open communication and transparent trust. I like the direct approach as it keeps drama to a minimum and there’s no need for ceremony. Building a foundation on friendship is important. It's not enough to find a best friend. I want to find THE best friend. I want to have deep intellectual conversations but still find time to be silly and laugh. I think it’s the simple things that make life extraordinary. They’re all pieces of a larger puzzle and to see the big picture is a marvel. Simple things like sharing a home cooked meal or a comforter on a cold night add color. Exploring a new restaurant, a sporting event or a concert would be nice. (I love concerts and music festivals in general!) Spending time with friends and family or listening to how each other’s day turned out might seem mundane but I think it’s grand. There’s a lot to living than just breathing.

In a nutshell, I can write all these things but nothing will happen until we reach out to each other. There are so many single people on this site and yet oddly we’re still single. Given economies of scale, one could argue that none of us are really anything special. Let’s throw the odds to the wind. Let’s explore and seek out that special someone without fear. We’ll probably fail a bunch of times but a few of us will find success. The rest of us will keep trying in some form or another. So while figuring out what to write, it’s really the same old story. I’m seeking out the same things you’re looking for.

Like every good story, the best ones are the one with the ending of “happily ever after”. Maybe that’s where you come in?

I wish I had a dog. I've always had a dog in my life until I moved to the big city. My previous jobs used to require lots of travel so it didn't seem fair to keep a pet. I still think about it from time to time now that I'm settling into DFW.
