I believe: There are no ordinary moments. The best sound in the world is laughter, and my favorite thing to do is make someone laugh so hard they cry. If you don't have joy and peace alone, no one can give those gifts to you. A healthy relationship magnifies these feelings of equanimity and happiness. That even in a place like DC, it's possible to have a best friend who is not your dog (although my dog is right up there). Someone's smile should be one of their most attractive features, along with a sense of humor and sharp intellect. One should be passionate about views and causes while being willing to hear the other side's. Settling for anything in life (a substandard job, relationship, outlook) is tragic. Quite simply, I am a hopeless optimist whose outlook is tempered (not killed) by life's reality. I'm looking for someone who I love as much when we're talking and laughing as anything else.
