ABOUT HER & WHO SHE'S LOOKING FOR

I can picture it now; you and me, taking our last run of the day (not calling it “the last run,” of course). It’s been a great day—we didn’t make first tracks because you know I need my coffee before we can do anything. But, the snow was gorgeous, and we are together--well, not exactly. I've skied out ahead and you are yelling, "Lindsey, you need to see this view." It's a ploy, of course; you are still trying to master kissing with the helmet on. When we get down to the lodge, we have a little Apres Ski time before showering and heading out for an evening in the village. We have a dinner reservation, not because we need to hit the trendy new restaurant, but because we had planned to have one nice dinner, just the two of us. We share romantic evenings regularly, but it's always a little extra special when we're on vacation. Sadly, that an impromptu snowball fight with the children we passed on the way has put a hiccup in that plan. He hit you first, and then his sister hit me…this means “war.” It also means we missed our reservation. Oh well. We’ll just grab a quick bite at the place around the corner. After getting our butts kicked by 7-year olds, BBQ and a cold drink sounds better anyway--we've amped up the silly and the flirting a little too much for fancy digs. When asked about our romantic evening, we’ll tell our friends that we just couldn't not play, and, of course, that we “let them” win. This trip, it’s just the two of us and whoever else was up for a week in the mountains, but we are looking forward to teaching our kids how to ski and ice skate, and spending exhausted evenings in the lodge watching them sled on the hills.

This life I see, a combination of adventures (relaxing trips to DisneyWorld and Hawaii; exploring Europe; long weekends wherever we end up) and the day-to-day (cooking dinner together; me surprising you with a date night after a long day at work; catching up on Newsroom and Big Bang Theory; a lazy afternoon tangled up on the couch), it’s you and me and we just never seem to stop laughing—with each other or at, doesn’t matter. You keep me on my toes, and I give as good I get. And, while sarcastic, we are never cruel or mean. We take every opportunity to say/show our feelings. We are curious and talk about the world, our thoughts, and our challenges. We don’t always agree—how could we? We are educated, honest, and bright, and, let's be honest, a little stubborn—we are bound to disagree. The thing that makes us, US, though is that we keep talking, asking questions, and listening. We know what the other is thinking with just a look. We see the world as something to discover, and our curiosity engages us, draws us to each other.

We are a team. I am your greatest fan, and you are my champion. You are part of my family, and one that is better because you are in it. And, at times, I even feel a little guilty because I am already so blessed to have an amazing, and genuine family. I just didn’t understand what I was missing until you were there.

This life that I see is a work in progress, and will be until the end, but it is completely incomplete because we haven't found each other yet.
