Is it just me or is it insanely hard to write about yourself!? Ok, here it goes...
I grew up just outside Boston, and when I finished school I moved to Pittsburgh to start my career. I absolutely loved the time I spent in the Steel City, especially the close friends and colleagues I met. After four years, I transferred to our Cambridge office (this past October) and I'm thrilled to be back home in Boston. There's no replacement for being close to your family. (I was once told that if you feel the need to write something parenthetically, you're not organizing your thoughts well enough.)
I'm a structural engineer and I feel lucky that I really enjoy my job. There are lots of reasons why, but at the top of my list are the great people I work with, the challenging projects, and the joy of learning new things every day. It's very important to me that you like what you do! I'm less concerned with exactly WHAT you do, but more WHY you do it. What drives you? What motivates you? Your job certainly doesn't need to be your passion, but that's great if it is.
I'm the kind of person who is constantly changing the radio in the car for the sole purpose of finding something I can sing along to. I love skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. The beach is fun once in a while, though I sometimes get bored just lying around. I often go all weekend without checking my email or cell phone. How many times have you seen a couple out to dinner and both of them are on their iPhones!? I can assure you that will never happen to me (us?)...
When's the last time you went on a random road trip with friends and had a bad time? Exactly. They're always a good time. It's tougher and tougher to find friends willing to jump in a car and drive on an adventure, but the stories usually become epic.
Alright, I don't want to give away too many secrets. I'm looking for a girl who has a good head on her shoulders and still remembers how to be silly. Having shared interests is great, but I want to learn from you, too. I hope to hear from you!
