There are definite limitations as to how much one can learn through this type of format, but here is at least something to get us started!
I was born in Florida but grew up mostly in NYC. Then I went to Colorado College in Colorado Springs where I studied Studio Art and Asian Studies. My senior art thesis consisted of an installation of nine triangular weavings and an assortment of cakes and cupcakes. It was all interactive, and I got a lot of inspiration from "The Stepford Wives." I also studied Chinese, mostly because I had already learned Spanish and wanted to try something new, but unfortunately I don't remember all that much. I also took a semester off to go to San Jose, Costa Rica, where I taught art and English classes for kids in low-income communities there. It was a great way to take a break from college while still doing something that felt really meaningful to me.
I graduated from college in May 2011 and moved up to Denver with a few college friends. I spent most of that year after college working at a bakery there, making cakes, cupcakes, pies, and a lot of customer service. While I really loved the baking (especially the pies) as well as many of my co-workers, it just wasn't very well-managed, and I often would feel stressed about not working fast enough and getting out enough product in a certain amount of time.
I eventually decided to go down a slightly different and more fulfilling path, and so I moved to Austin in September in order to pursue my interests in cooking and yoga. I am attending a vegetarian culinary school here as well as a Hatha yoga teacher training. I know I want to share these skills with others, and right now I am thinking about teaching some cooking and yoga classes for kids and families, both in small groups and on an individual basis.
I am open to meeting new people on here and seeing where things take us. I suppose that ultimately I am looking for "the one," if that even exists, but if I meet some other great people along the way, then even better! So if you are a compassionate, thoughtful, and motivated individual, send me a genuine message and let's see what happens! :)
