ABOUT HER & WHO SHE'S LOOKING FOR

I like to think I'm hard-working, respectful, and all of those other qualities many try to be. Because I try to respect others, I expect the same in return. I truly believe empathy is one of the most important character traits a person can possess. I'm extremely loyal and have a very close circle of friends who are all like extended family. I'm a little bit of everything... it makes life more interesting!

I believe life is way too short, so I try to wring the most out of mine while I'm on this lovely planet! Laughing is important to me, and I can often find quite a bit of humor in my own ridiculousness. I absolutely love to travel and have spent a decent amount of time traveling, as well as living, abroad. I think I have an open mind about differences in all forms.

Just FYI, I have a degree in English, so it's in my nature to appreciate reading well-written works, including Match.com profiles. :) I'm attracted to intelligence, and good grammar doesn't hurt!

A few things I really don't like: 1) mean people 2) liars. 3) shirtless photos... Yep, I'm honest. One more: if you're into hunting, I probably won't respond. It's not something I can understand or appreciate. I know this is Texas and that rules out a lot of people, but I'm okay with that.

Religion shouldn't be an issue, unless you believe I need to have one. I think spirituality is deeply personal, and it's much more about finding peace than preaching. I am very liberal in my views about the world and my place in it. I feel as if I need to give something back so that I will not have lived a life without purpose. We should all leave the world a little better than we found it, don't you think?

Some of my interests include: reading, cooking, trying new dishes, gardening (growing some of those things I like to cook), traveling, and checking off things on my bucket list. I love the beach and am always looking to try something new.

I think I'm pretty funny sometimes, but I can, on occasion, throw out a bit of dry wit ;) A sense of humor is very important!

Other random facts about me:
-I took ballet as an adult, and even danced in the recital.
-I spent almost a month in India a few years ago.
-I am former military and I've got some nice benefits to prove it!
-My dance moves have been compared to someone with epilepsy, but only in the most loving way.
-I'm learning to surf... better late than never! :)
-I walked past Willie Nelson outside a bar in Italy. While I thought this was a unique experience, apparently almost everyone has a Willie experience.
-I've been called "feisty" a time or two...
-I can drive just about every vehicle on the road.
-Apparently, I'm a food snob. But only because I believe in taking care of my body. (This doesn't mean I'm picky. I'll try anything once... and maybe even twice, just to make sure!)
-I play a decent game of Hold 'Em... Decent enough to spend about 6 hours in the poker room at Caesar's Palace in Vegas and still come out ahead. ;)
-I am in love with Key West... Hell, one day I may even buy a boat and live off the coast of Florida!!

And now the good stuff... While I know the foundations of any good relationship are friendship, trust, and loyalty, I also know that chemistry is very important! I guess it's easier for me to put what I'm NOT looking for, as what I'm looking for is hard to pin down. We know it when we find it, I suppose. I am not looking for someone who needs a "good woman." I'm rather liberal, and I know that my views often don't align with those in the more conservative circles. I don't want to be a silent arm ornament. I think for myself and am rather proud of that fact. I'm also not looking for a casual relationship. If you're looking to "hook up," or "have fun," don't bother.

One last note: If you're going to wink, you might as well just e-mail me. I think the wink thing is a little lame. :) I also think you should post a photo if you'd like a reply.

I'm a novice surfer and I love the beach, enjoying time with my friends, a delicious meal. I also enjoy cultural events, museums, and festivals. I read when I can and I am naturally curious about most things. I'm adventurous and like challenges

Favorite hot spots:

Not a fan of cold weather, but don't mind it in small doses. Any beach is nice :) I love Europe, and can't wait to explore Mexico and maybe even Central and South America. I'd like to visit India again. Egypt and Greece are on my list, too.

Favorite things:

I love music (all kinds, although not too fond of country). U2 is one of the greatest bands ever! Lucky Charms. Any food made with lemons. Weeds. Stand-up. Good coffee. Greek yogurt. Medium rare rib-eyes. Guiness or Modelo Especial. Costa Rica!

Last read:

Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Malcolm Gladwell. I usually have several unfinished books around. I'm reading a collection of Hemingway's short stories, and am working on The Social Animal by David Brooks, as well as a couple of non-fiction works.
