I'm entering this thing with a degree of skepticism; it's not exactly the "eyes locked across a crowded room" kind of thing. But so it goes...
I teach high school, and I do it out of a passion to empower and uplift youth that might otherwise be marginalized. It's a major part of my identity, and I want someone who feels the same kind of passion for something in their life. History is my subject, so I'm kind of a nerd and political junkie.
I'm something of a musician; played in bands, never made it big, but still enjoy playing guitar and going to live performances. My musical tastes are vast, from punk rock to classical - there is only good music and bad music.
I'm intelligent, funny, sarcastic, with a dry wit. I love stand-up comedy. I'm kind of a cheese-ball, closet romantic who'll cry at movies (don't make fun, I can't help it sometimes) and believes in chivalry. I'm a bit of an anachronism, and I save the best of me for when I get close to a person.
I'm easy going and deeply committed to my friends and family. I enjoy who I'm with more than where I'm at... I enjoy the little things; sharing a laugh, a song, a moment, an experience. I am also looking for someone to stay active with, jogging, swimming, hiking, bicycling... but also someone to spend a lazy Sunday watching TV on the couch.
