Okay, I should be upfront about this: I don’t really call cakes “big ol’ cookies”. Like 98% of the people on here, I really had no idea what to do with the headline, so I decided to go with a non-sequitur pop culture reference. It’s just a line from “Parks and Recreation” that I enjoyed. But I suppose I could start calling cakes “big ol’ cookies” if that would help…
So, who am I, really? Well, I am an attorney who represents workers in labor and employment law cases. My work is pretty meaningful, but I want to make sure that it doesn’t take over my whole life, which is one of the reasons I’m on here.
I love sports, especially baseball. I’m a big St. Louis Cardinals fan. I’m originally from St. Louis, and even though my family moved here when I was a kid, I was already hooked on the Cards. And then I went back to St. Louis for college and law school during the Pujols/Edmonds/Rolen years, which further convinced me I made the right decision. So, I love going to Wrigley Field but I’ll never root for the home team there.
I also really enjoy music, and I would love to get out to more concerts. Two of my favorite memories since returning to Chicago are seeing Levon Helm play at the Old Town School of Folk Music and seeing Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at Wrigley Field. I enjoy a wide variety of music including rock, folk, blues, and jazz, and I’m always interested in listening to new things. I’ve also been teaching myself to play the guitar on and off since law school. I might just spring for lessons one of these days.
Generally, I’m interested in trying new things, hoping that it will result in having some fun and learning something. Recently, I’ve taken some lessons at a cooking school near my house in hopes of being able to make something other than frozen pizza.
But there are definitely nights when I just love coming home and reading or watching TV. I love comedy, in addition to “Parks and Rec”, “Bob’s Burgers” is my other favorite show currently on. I’m still kind of sad “30 Rock” is gone. I also love shows that mix humor with other genres like “Doctor Who” or everything Joss Whedon does.
I’d like to meet someone who is intelligent, funny and kind. Which I suppose really separates me from everybody else, who are looking for stupid, humorless, mean people. Honestly, it’s seems even harder to describe what I want in a match than to describe myself. I guess the best thing I can say is that I’d like to be in relationship where everything we do together is a more fun and enjoyable and exciting because we are doing it together-whether it’s going to a concert or watching TV or just talking.
Yeah, this was hard. I really should I have just put have put more “Parks and Rec” quotes here.
