I love my job. I'm a teacher and have taught both here in Illinois as well as in Puerto Rico and Colombia. Living abroad made me appreciate what we have here in the U.S. It also forced me to live out of my comfort zone in so many ways, and that's what I loved about it! Also, I'm fascinated by the Latino culture and language. I've been trying to learn Spanish for well over a decade now and am considered proficient, but really, how is that possible? I'm still learning it daily.
I have a 3 year old son from a previous relationship. My son is the best thing that ever happened to me and has made me acutely aware of how precious life is. I learn so much from him each day, it's the best!
I'm looking for someone who is intelligent, driven and hilarious. I want someone who is independent and comfortable in almost any situation. I'd like to find someone who can make me laugh and who can appreciate my sense of humor. I'd like to find someone who will watch sports with me, who will read and tell me about what he's reading, who won't mind if I spill my popcorn all over him during a scary movie, who will listen to music with me on road trips and sing along, who will cook for me once in a while, and mostly just someone who will be supportive and who can challenge me.
Here are a few facts about me:
1. I once went to the Grand Canyon for 15 minutes, just to say I'd seen it (Would love to go back and actually explore a little).
2. I used to hate being a redhead, but now I love it.
3. When I was a teenager, I thought it would make a lot of sense to sunbathe until my freckles all connected so that I would look really tan (It didn't work).
4. I once went on a long road trip through many states and made it a priority to play darts in all of the ones we passed through. I even made a stop through that skinny part of Idaho, just to say that I played there.
5. Even though I love my job, my dream job would have something to do with travel and writing.
6. I'll challenge anyone to a game of Scrabble.
7. I took guitar lessons for about a year (5 years ago) and cannot remember anything except that it was fun.
8. Things I missed when I lived in Colombia that I thought I would never miss: driving, salads, nachos, shoes in my size, fall, the Super Bowl, pizza, and cheese.
9. Things I miss about Colombia: the smells, the colors, the flowers, the people, the crazy driving, the bus rides, the extensive amount of free time I had, the hot weather, speaking Spanish, and mostly the fresh fruits.
10. I won the handwriting award in second grade.
