Who is the knight coming back from foreign adventures? After almost 8 years tilting at digital windmills in Arabia, I sought adventure, achievement, causes worth fighting for - and in the process amassed tales comic and tragic, occasionally romantic in Jerusalem, Kandahar, Cairo, Khartoum, Riyadh, Dubai, Kerala, Rio de Janiero - and more...I counseled clients, ran the deal, handled the project, helped the helpless (less often than I'd have liked to)...yet life as a tumbleweed takes many kinds of tolls.
So I've just moved back to California to try to put down roots, live in the moment, enjoy the realms I grew up in but never learned to appreciate as I should because I was always bound somewhere else. So far, that's meant Yosemite (Feb '13), rock climbing (March '13), Catalina (April '13), camping (Redwoods rule), car camping at the Coachella Music Festival, revisiting with family and friends, and trying to study for the bar exam (New York was way easier than California!). And making new friends.
Know any cool volunteer opportunities? Hot spots? Let's be partners in kindness as well as partners in crime. My faith in soul mates is shattered; but life mates are possible, and friendships even better. Are you easy to converse with, uplifting, maybe even inspiring? Essentially healthy? Playful? Ambitious and driven yet hoping for something more? I'm mostly seeking authentic friendship - simply trying to help and comfort one another - have fun together, gradually offer a bit more support to a person who merits absolute trust and perhaps devotion. Life relationships are hard work - and the romantic within me has given way to pragmatism: just be friends, see what happens, and do my best to explore what is beautiful in the places we've put ourselves. I'll do my best to make for a memorable adventure.
You've never met someone quite like me before. I'm offering creativity, passion, originality, authenticity, unusual conversation,loyalty, and potentially, real adventure - perhaps more. I've played everything from lone wolf gunslinger (or at least a modern incarnation thereof) to class clown to poet/philosopher to champion/protector to hopeless romantic to...well, many roles, with more to come. Ultimately, I'm a decent man trying to find my way, rebuilding after getting everything I thought I wanted and finding it was not what I needed. Friends help us define our own identity.
