I grew up in the MD suburbs and moved back when I got divorced about six years ago. I bought a rowhome in Georgetown three years ago and love being downtown in the middle of everything. It is so different to live in the city versus the suburbs or even Arlington/Bethesda. I love the whole DC/MD/VA area and could be drug out of the city but enjoy being a walk or short ride from all the city has to offer.
I also like to get away and take long weekend trips. I have travelled over 2.5 million miles on American Airlines and have plenty of frequent flyer benefits stored up. Favorite trips are to the beach to get a tan and SCUBA dive or to the mountains to snowboard and snowmobile. It has been way too long since I have done a "cultural" trip, but have a few ideas about fixing this problem.
I do like to get outside to stay in shape, crewing and riding are my current favorite activities. I also enjoy playing tennis and going to the gym or a "bootcamp" workout session as needed. I'm always looking for something else fun to do - rock climbing, sailing, helicopter lessons, etc.
I try to be active to work off the food and drink that I also enjoy. I love to walk into my favorite bars/restaurants where they know me by name, but find myself trying all that DC has to offer which means I am going to new places each week. I tend to go all over the city - Penn Quarter, Capital Hill, Georgetown, U/14th Street area even the Atlas District. I know Arlington and Bethesda have great places as well but I like to focus on the city. I can eat from food trucks as well as gourmet restaurants, good food doesn't have to be expensive or stuffy all the time.
I also enjoy going to music venues, theatres, art galleries and anything else the city has to offer. I can oftern be found at the 9:30 as well as the Kennedy Center on weekends. Phillips after 5 and Hirshhorn after Hours, charity events, wine tastings at the French Embassy and whatever else I can find. My fridge today is plastered with tickets for upcoming shows like The Hold Steady, Hair, Cirque Du Soleil and Louis C.K.
So, I don't have a "type" but if any of this sounds interesting I'd love to meet over drinks or coffee to see if we might be a match. I am looking for a long term relationship and hopefully to find someone to settle down with although I am not the type to rush into anything...
