ABOUT HIM & WHO HE'S LOOKING FOR

I recently moved back to the area to be a better Dad to my 9-year-old daughter, and am starting a new life looking to ultimately find someone who will make me a better me ....

When my daughter was 2 years old, I moved an hour away because I thought at the time that having a "great" job would be the best way to make her (and me) happiest. Fast forward to seven years later, while dropping her off at home one day, I looked back at my daughter and saw a look in her face that seemed sad to be saying goodbye (which I had reluctantly grown used to), but also this look that seemed like she didn't know if or when she would be able to see her Dad again. This was heart-breaking to me, and I quickly came to the realization that my priorities had been in all the wrong places for too long of a time. Literally, one month later, I am here, no more than 10 minutes away from her, crossing a bridge that needed to be crossed in order to be the Dad that she deserved, before the bridge was burned altogether.

My daughter is the best thing I ever did, and the reason I share the above story is because it best describes where I am and where I want to be going. What I'm looking for can be best summed up as someone who not only realizes what my priorities are, but supports them and understands that I'd prioritize the right person in the same way. I've done the "college thing," the "party thing," and my twenties were a blur. My biggest regrets aren't necessarily the things I've done, but the things I didn't do when I had the chance.

I want to make the next part of my life, in short, the best part of my life. I've said "bye bye" to all the games a long time ago. I'm a great guy in a unique position and literally starting fresh in a brand new place. I love trying new things, especially when the person that I'm with is having a good time too. I can have fun going out for a night on the town, but I can also have fun having a night in. I really am easy-going, not because every other person on this website says it, but because you never know when something "ordinary" can become something "extraordinary." Some of my best memories have come with no expectations. So when I say I don't mind "going with the flow," I really don't, because you never know what may come of it.

This may sound weird, but I love to learn. I'm a few credits short of my Master's Degree (MBA), and if I had all the time in the world, I wouldn't mind continuing my education even more. Whether it's as simple as CNN or reading newspapers or magazines, I enjoy learning new things. While my goal isn't to be the smartest nerd in the room, it never hurts to be the most informed.

I'm grateful for the friends that I have, especially the select few that have been with me through all the ups and downs of life. I'm also grateful for the opportunities that present themselves when you least expect them. Deny it all you want, but I'm pretty sure that everything does happen for a reason!

For some reason I feel like I've typed so much yet said so little, so please let me know if, after reading my short essay, you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them!

Favorite things:

I enjoy a pretty random selection of music, including country, rock, and R&B. Sports-wise, it's Bears, Cubs, and Bulls. I don't watch much TV, but a couple shows I got hooked on in the past were Dexter, Shameless, and SportsCenter.

Last read:

I think I need to invest in a Kindle, because I feel like I'm always reading one thing or another. Whether it's newspapers, magazines, or a random book that someone suggests, one thing about me is that I feel like you can never be "over-informed."
