I have every word, I have no word … to describe myself. Sounds familiar? Let’s
make it short and easy. I am a well-rounded balancing physical and intellectual
activities. I am a runner (completed 12 marathons) and a professional
(quantitative finance) who smiles at a cardinal perching on a shrub in Central
Park.
I have many interests, mostly in the humanities: you will find me reading The
New Yorker’s fiction, the classics, frequenting art museums (I Met my MoMA!) or
in an independent film house. I also enjoy traveling, especially if in lovely
company (yours). I am a decent cook, an improviser, can’t follow recipes once I
get the hang of a certain dish preparation. I am fond of food presentation. In
a previous life, I might well have been a sous-chef at the Versailles court,
Monsieur Le Gardemanger, serving swans and wild boars decorated with New World
feathers and pomegranates, but modern me loves animals stomping in the wild and
is quite content with arranging faces on top of a garden salad. I can also make
a wicked multi-layered cappuccino, which I can decorate with a rose for you, a
rosaccino!
Meanwhile, I find slicing vegetable chip-thin very relaxing ... A Santoku knife
made with German steel and with the Kanji character for emperor (Mikado) etched
on the handle is the trusted assistant of my firm hand. The knife embodies one
of my beliefs, that the West may see itself in the mirror in the East, and grow
wiser in this contemplation. (I even named one of my laptops after this idea:
WesTsaE.)
You? Ideally, you are a bouquet of pretty adjectives: creative, compassionate,
open-minded, sincere and straightforward in communication. Most importantly,
you, like me, don't play games and are in quest of a committed relationship. On
my personal seal, I inscribed "e duobus unum," that is, "from two, one." Do you
agree? Shall we discuss this over coffee!
