ABOUT HER & WHO SHE'S LOOKING FOR

…well this is humbling, isn't it!

So, after the desire to move D.C. simmered in the back of my mind for years, I'm finally here. Originally from Maryland, I moved to New York for college and ended up living there for 12 years--NYC most definitely made me who I am, and it will probably take a while before I no longer identify myself as a New Yorker. After a brief stint in San Francisco I landed a position here jumping into a new ambitious project. It feels good to be home.

I've always found myself a bit of an anomaly--a creative at heart who likes working both within the system and outside of it. I am most content when I am making things or solving a problem. I consider the opportunities I've been given as a gift, and thus have a burning desire to pay it forward. I've accomplished more then I could think of career-wise, only to realize that by the time you accomplish the goals you set out, you're already set on some greater challenge. I value failure (or at least attempt to), creative destruction, and new beginnings.

I am definitely a city person and relocating to an area outside of the city, or anywhere I have to rely on a car isn't in my future plans at the moment. I'm an only child, I come from a small(ish) family and have always had an independent streak. I've travelled (often alone) to many parts of Europe, Africa, and the middle east making friends along the way. I am, after all this, a girl, and such that I tear up hearing the national anthem or watching some triumphant example of the human condition (like the olympics, or marathons, or double overtime games)

Other miscellany:
Politics, policy, media, foreign relations = yes
Design, design thinking = yes
Dream job = cultural diplomacy
I'll try (almost) anything once.
The more I live the more I realize that relationships are most important. In fact, much of what drives my work is the opportunity to meet more people, or further empathy and understanding.
Contrary to popular belief, I don't enjoy shopping. However, I enjoy nice things.
It goes without saying at this point because everyone likes everything, but... YES, I too equally enjoy highbrow/lowbrow scenarios.
We're all down with irony and sarcasm, yep, got it
Eternal loves: Orioles, Celtics, Terrapins
Flings: Knicks, Red Sox, Steelers…. and oh yeah, the Nats!
Happy for any excuse to share thoughts/listen to music.
Way more comfortable amongst intimate company then be seen parties or group outings
Driven, kind-hearted, ready to like and be liked or love and be loved.

I love getting out of the city on the weekends, often hopping on a train to NYC to meet old friends. I also love burrowing into some fulfilling project… when I'm focused and determined, working on something, shaping it, realizing it, it's cathartic to me. As much as I enjoy this, I am ultimately looking for someone who will disrupt that routine… there's a lot to explore here, new places to see and memories to make, and I'm looking for a welcome distraction. Show me your city, teach me your ways… I look forward to it.
