I am truly just a goofy guy that is looking to venture outside my comfort zone. I am a graduate student, so that definitely limits my social life. I thought this would be the best time to try the online dating scene. Truthfully, putting myself "out there" in the online dating world makes me a little uncomfortable. But, this is 2013 and this is the year that I am looking to push myself and try new things.
A little about myself. I enjoy the outdoors and I really enjoy hiking. There is something about experiencing nature that rejuvenates me and provides inspiration for my every-day life. My hiking usually involves reaching a mountain peak or a hidden waterfall. Something about pushing myself to the limit and seeing the world from high elevations motivates me. It is very inspiring when you commute to work and can see the mountain peaks that you have conquered in the distance. This activity has provided perspective to my life.
Family is important to me, and my dog Hunter has played an important role in my life. A family that could not care for him anymore brought him to the park that I work at, and we've been together ever since. I often take him on adventures with me. He has taught me another level of responsibility. There is something about having something in your life that relies on you for survival. I'm glad that I took the little guy in.
I like reading. My favorite authors are Edith Wharton and John Steinbeck. My favorite novels are Ethan Frome and Sweet Thursday. I enjoy writing myself, but my creative writing could use some polishing. I love hearing about other people's interpretations and reasons for liking certain books and novels.
I played basketball in high school and I still have a certain level of competitiveness and need to push myself athletically. My knees have limited my basketball playing in recent years, so I have turned to working out at the gym. You can often find me working out with my buddies at the gym, and I have grown to enjoy it. It has provided me a new outlet to push myself. This is another reason for my hiking. That need to push myself to its limits has created the need to reach new heights and new mountain peaks.
Though I am generally an introverted person, I enjoy meeting new people. I love listening to, learning about, and getting to know new people. Though I am a little goofy and maybe a tad-bit eccentric, I think you may find me interesting. I hope to get to the opportunity to get to know you. Here's to taking chances!
