ABOUT HIM & WHO HE'S LOOKING FOR

I am a PhD student finishing my dissertation in English Literature at USC. I spend most of my time reading about Irish literature and state development; I love what I research. And I believe in most of the tenets of Marxist theory.

I'm a bleeding-heart liberal (well, Marxist, but in a very practical/theoretical sense), but I'm open-minded. I'm not from LA originally -- I moved here 6 years ago for graduate school from Georgia by way of Chicago and Baltimore. Only now am I really getting accustomed to the culture and vibe here and finding my niche. Although I mostly know people from college and USC out here, I'm trying to meet new people. If something happens, cool; if not, that's cool too.

I'm pretty sarcastic, and my sense of humor is very observational, but in a very random way. I make a lot of puns; very, very bad puns are dear to my heart. And I get really, really terrible songs in my head. I apologize pre-emptively.

I love books and music - I am probably one of the few people I know that still buys CDs. I listen to a lot of indie rock and go to a lot of shows (probably a few times a month, at the Echo, the Satellite, the El Rey, or Alex's Bar in Long Beach). But seriously, you should message me if you want to go to a show.

I'm training for the San Francisco half-marathon at the end of July, so it would be cool to have a running partner, whether or not you're training for a race or just enjoy running.

PS: if you've actually met someone that's 3'0" or 8'11", let me know, because that is HILARIOUS. Pictures, please, because if you don't have pictures it didn't happen.
