"Clarity and decisiveness come from the willingness to slow down, to listen to and look at what's happening. They come from opening your heart and not running away. Then your actions and speech accord with what needs to be done - for you and for the other person." - "Letting the World Speak for Itself", from "Comfortable with Uncertainty", by Pema Chodron Hi – Let’s see, I’ve lived in Cambria for a few years now, and this place really helps keep me balanced and centered. I enjoy strong yoga, usually in San Luis Obispo, walking and jogging through the forest, and weight training. I like reading: John le Carre' novels, Michael Lewis’s books, SEAL stories, and Mitchell's Tao Te Ching translation are current favorites. I enjoy plot and character driven movies, fine art, and yes, discussing current events. I'm close to my family, and have a five year old gentle yellow Lab, Annie, whom I’ve raised from a pup and who takes care of me. Although yoga has become an important part of my life, I'm not spiritually demonstrative, and I'm circumspect about yogic spirituality. I'm a pretty healthy eater, though not a foodie, and don't drink much. When I do drink, I like complex cabernets. It would be great if I found someone who likes yoga, or other exercise, has enjoyed her school, loves dogs, the outdoors, reading, and has an appreciation of aesthetics. My idea of a nice first date might include a hike on a new trail, or maybe a tour through a farmers market, and dinner at Big Sky in SLO, or perhaps a walk and lunch at the Bayside Cafe' at the marina in Morro Bay. I'm interested in experiencing, and also understanding, people, and making genuine, lasting friends. Oh, and if I find someone and lightning strikes .. If you're interested in chatting, please do get in touch ~ Have fun searching! Steve p.s. For fun I took a yoga teacher training module this summer. Then I injured my back. Now I just finished a 200hr massage class in the evenings this fall, and am now taking the next 50 hrs towards statewide certification. Want a massage ?? p.p.s. Oh, and this is pretty hot: Some Kiss We Want Rumi There is some kiss we want with our whole lives, the touch of spirit on the body. Seawater begs the pearl to break its shell. And the lily, how passionately it needs some wild darling! At night, I open the window and ask the moon to come and press its face against mine. Breathe into me. Close the language-door and open the love-window. The moon won't use the door, only the window. -Translated by Coleman Barks
