ABOUT HIM & WHO HE'S LOOKING FOR

I've begun seeing you out in public. We see each other and try not notice. But I notice and I know you notice. But do we dare introduce ourselves? You act shy and coquettish. I, master of the English language, am suave and debonair. Of course, I didn't see the person's foot parked next to me and stumble like a buffoon when I approach. The perfect ice breaker, the big dumb guy with a little too much testosterone, even for my age, tries to be smooth. Only to fall on one's face, oh, the agony! I dust myself off and try my approach again. You seem distant now, a myriad of miles away, maybe on the white cliffs of Dover. More suitors approach. I'm running a gauntlet now of potential jilted lovers and misogynistic boys. I finally reach you and the first thing out of my mouth is "Hello, my name is George. I'm unemployed and I live with my parents."

I seriously must be the only person in Seattle that does not do the "outdoor/weekend warrior" activity. I don't run, bike, ski/snowboard or backpack. I did when I was much younger, but as a good friend of mine says, why do I want to work all week to act like I'm homeless on the weekends? ;-) I still work out at the gym about 5 days a week, go out with friends/family on a regular basis, do all the things that city living has to offer(sporting events, concerts, museums, etc). I can also hang out by the pool or on the beach with the best of them! :-)

I'm a big fan of spontaneity, of fully trying to live or be in the moment of life. I had to jump into a large body of water within 24 hours of being called out on FB. So went down to Golden Gardens, with friends in tow to document the occasion, called out 5 friends(which is part of the rules of the challenge) and then plunged into the icy, cold water of the Puget Sound. It was awesome!

*Disclaimer, please read this. So it's taken me a long time to announce this publicly on a dating site. Friends/family have told me they didn't think it was wise as it is, a dating site. But as I wanted to show how serious I am about finding a mate, I thought I should finally testify. In 2006, I was diagnosed with a rare, genetic brain disease that is called Machado Joseph. It affects my cerebellum and over time, I will lose my motor functions, but will always maintain my cognitive thinking. I used to be a huge outdoor enthusiast, but as the disease has slowly eroded my eyesight, gait and balance, I am no longer able to perform these activities. As far as others who have it, I am doing excellent which I will say is because of my constant regiment of going to the gym. All my siblings have the disease, but we lost my sister in April of this year due to complications of the disease. We are all incredibly close and my support system from them and friends is huge and know for a fact that I could not do this without them. This makes me very uncomfortable announcing this publicly as it makes me feel too vulnerable and all my relationships since my diagnosis have failed because of the individual I was dating at the time, couldn't get around it!

But, I find myself to be incredibly strong and know I can get through anything and will never give up. That also includes never giving up on my friends/family as THIS and only THIS is what truly is important in life!
