I moved to Los Angeles from Atlanta about 2 years ago. I worked in investment banking for several years, but quit the corporate world once my startup started doing well enough for me to pursue it full time. My company provides courses in audio engineering, music production and DJing at our offices, as well as through an online school. Most of our students are 20-30 years old, but I'm very passionate about educating kids/teenagers, so we also offer a number of youth camps during the summer.
Most of my friends would describe me as extremely ambitious, but also laid back. I’m very easy going and rarely meet someone I don’t get along with. I love exploring bars/restaurants/venues that I haven’t been to yet. As much as I enjoy discovering new restaurants in town, I also love cooking and really enjoy cooking for other people.
I've also been a very active drummer for over 15 years and love performing. My musical tastes are extremely diverse and as a result I’ve played with an assortment of bands (jazz, rock, hip-hop, etc.), although for some reason I keep finding myself playing with 90s rock/pop cover bands. As a result, I’m intimately familiar with pretty much any song that was on the radio during the 90s, including the entire third eye blind catalogue (a bit embarrassing to admit).
I like to stay active and healthy – I go to the gym several times a week, and also go running on the beach at least once a week. I love snowboarding, and recently started surfing; paddle surfing is the next item on my list of the things to learn.
I read a lot, usually non-fiction (lately I’ve been enjoying biographies). I don’t watch TV very often, but occasionally will get hooked on a show (most recently Dexter and Breaking Bad). I also watch a ton of movies. I’m a big fan of offbeat comedies and dramas, but am a real sucker for low-budget horror films. When I login to my Netflix it tells me I’m interested in “Visually-striking Dark Independent Movies” and “Scary Suspenseful Psychological Movies”.
