Please pardon the length and intensity of my long description here. I really do not take myself too seriously, but for a relationship to be successful, both people need to be on the same page!!!
I enjoy nothing better in the world than seeing contentment, joy, and satisfaction in my lady's eyes and smile. I like taking road trips, exploring other cultures and cuisine, having philosophical discussions, history, science, sci-fi, hiking, bicycling, and seeing historical places. I like all kinds of movies, music, places, and cooking, but rarely drink. I speak some Spanish and Japanese, have studied different religions and cultures, so I am fairly worldly. I couldn't care less about bars, clubs, gambling, or watching sports. However, I am open to new things and love to explore.
I enjoy the outdoors, hiking, camping, bicycling, and target shooting competition, which I used to teach and coach. I haven't enjoyed these much the last few years because I have busy with work. The result is that I afforded to buy a nice home in Glendale, Arizona (which I rent out). I plan to move to AZ someday perhaps, even though I live in Orange, CA now.
I used to be in the Army and was very physically active, to which lifestyle I plan to return, especially with someone who might be a workout / hiking partner. I have put on some weight since I have not had such a partner for many years. I may not look much like it, but I studied martial arts for a few years, I am a tough and wily warrior with numerous skills, with whom you can always feel safe and protected. I am very handy am able to fix and/or upgrade most anything, as well as handle all kinds of situations. I have found that only women who are physically fit can keep up with me and enjoy activities, so I do not date women who are not fit.
Most say I have kind and passionate nature, a quick and mildly sarcastic wit, and strong sense of commitment and honor. I am also fun loving, and fast on my feet with finding humor in most situations. I also have a serious and pragmatic side, for work and the issues of daily life and the world. I manage money well. I expect a woman to be of like mind and manage her money well also and not look to me or others for ongoing financial support. I work hard and am generous, but I expect my lady to work hard at a job as I do; it is the financial reality today to have to contribute together, except for those wealthy few, of which I am not. I believe it is essential for our mutual self-respect that this be, and to avoid previous terrible mistakes, so this is non-negotiable.
I am very spiritual, believe in the existence of God, karma and a higher power and purpose, certainly Christian and Buddhist values. I am a patriot and historian, politically/socially conservative and libertarian, with divergent positions on many issues, and try to always be open-mined. I do not need agreement on everything (beyond common decency, thoughtfulness, and respect of our country and rights). Most of my family has had a military or related history, which is a heritage I am a very proud.
I have a young daughter who doesn't live with me, but whom I love very much. Her mom is already remarried and settled, so she is not a concern. I would love my lady's children as my own ...as I was adopted myself, now share my daughter with a step-father, and understand these situations. I pride myself in being as good a father and partner as I can be, in every possible way (not elaborating so as not to be tacky or inappropriate)!
I seek a real partnership based on mutual respect and consideration and work, with as much calmness as possible, yet with laughter and passion. I say what I mean, and mean what I say, so you can count on my word of honor ...and I expect that you do the same! I will only accept a good woman of like mind, kind heart, with a dedicated and respectful spirit, to found a lifetime partnership (and have a lot of fun)!
