Hi, I'm Cathy! I was born and raised on Long Island (not ‘Lawn-guy-land’) :) Aside from 4 years at college, I’ve lived here my whole life. I work in Manhattan, but I'm a small town girl at heart. NYC is the best city in the world, but working there is more than enough for me. I guess I’m just a sucker for sprawling green lawns, robust trees and white picket fences :)
Being the youngest of 3, I am subject to a healthy mixture of teasing, tormenting, spoiling, and over-protectedness (is that a word? lol) As such, I’ve become well adept at taking punches as well as throwing them :)
I work in finance as a bond trader. I have a 60-hr work week, so Mondays thru Fridays are busy. I believe that if you want to play hard and enjoy all that life has to offer, you need to work just as hard, if not harder. There’s nothing better than enjoying the fruits of your labor and knowing that you earned it.
Outside of work I like to stay active. My favorite pastime is running. At a minimum I try to log 25 miles/week. I’ve done half marathons, but I have yet to do a full (goal for next year). I got into kickboxing-MMA about a year ago. I go twice a week and I absolutely love it! Wintertime is skiing time. Nothing better than hitting the slopes all day then kicking back with some apr?s-ski cocktails afterwards. I have competed in 3 Tough Mudders in the last 3 yrs. I'm extremely proud of these accomplishments and I can’t wait to do another! There’s something invigorating about running thru mud, ice water, fire, barbed wire and electricity lol :) My parents are beginning to think I’m crazy -perhaps they’re right ;)
All that being said, I don’t want you to think that I’m the energizer bunny :) I value quality down time to recharge the battery. Sometimes you need those weekends when all you do is lounge around watching 80’s movies.
When it comes to sports, my allegiance goes to the Mets, Jets and Islanders (the great trifecta of NY teams) ;) Football Sundays on the couch with beer and nachos are great! While I enjoy attending games and watching them on TV, I don’t follow stats, players, who got traded to where, etc
Personality: I'm shy at first, but open up quickly. Sarcasm kicks in when I feel comfortable with you, but it’s always in a fun-loving way! I’ve been told that I have a great sense of humor, but I’m also notorious for laughing at bad jokes :) At times I can be sensitive, but I know how to laugh at myself because hey, I’m far from perfect! I am loyal, honest, caring, kind and trustworthy. I treat people the same way I expect to be treated. If you lost your wallet, I’m the kind of person who you’d want to find it because I’d make sure it got returned without anything missing. I am not a needy girl who has to be doted on every minute, however I expect to be treated like a lady and shown respect- and occasionally surprised by random acts of romanticism! :) Being able to trust someone in a relationship is VERY important to me. I believe that communication is vital in building that trust, and ultimately in developing a greater sense of intimacy.
My match is sensitive, smart, outgoing and confident -but not arrogant or obnoxious. He doesn’t take himself too seriously; but he is also mature and has the emotional capacity of overcoming the proverbial curve balls that life inevitably throws at us. He appreciates me for who I am. He is loyal and has a strong sense of family values. He smiles in pictures (with his mouth and his eyes); he sings along to the radio in the car; he makes me laugh; doesn’t mind holding hands once in a while. He will understand (and appreciate) that my family will give him a hard time the first time they meet.
