Gregarious introvert with diverse interests. Happily attends parties, openings, opera, arts events. Designer-developer of medical and scientific instruments, with visual-quantitative sensibilities. Work variable hours. Place a high value on friendships and relationships that grow over time. Socially capable and thoughtful. Established and self-employed, with patents, prizes and papers. Past highlights include a decade of work on the Hubble telescope, and some work on instruments for the Mars Rovers, including the one which just landed. Also commercial projects, especially medical scanners. I find that a sense of playfulness is essential to productivity in work, in fostering good teams, and in effective problem solving. Work is important to me, and so is play. I enjoy sailing and I often feel a sense of contentment around the sea. Current journals include The New York Review of Books, The Economist, New Scientist, Technology Review, the New Yorker, and Vanity Fair. I often have a good rapport with children, and can be depended upon to read a story, assist with Legos, or change the seat height on a bicycle. Currently I tuck in around 10pm and am up around 6am, though that could change around the rythmn of a partners life. I am a museum goer, and frequent LACMA, MOCA, the Getty, the de Young and others. I enjoy opera and chamber music. My tastes in music are eclectic. Enjoyed Wagner's Ring Cycle in LA in last years season, and also Israel Kamakawiwo'ole singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow or Benny Goodman's recording of These Foolish Things. I voted for Obama in both of his elections. Charities of interest include my schools, the LA Public Library, Planned Parenthood, the ACLU and a foothill open-space preservation organization. I like this phase of life and the sense of self mastery and composure that comes with the years. Since I enjoy my single life, I'm not urgent about finding a partner, but would like to meet someone with whom I can be relaxed, go to concerts and plays, have fun, and share goals and achievements.
