About me … the short story is that I came to Santa Barbara 15 years ago for physics grad school. I finished my PhD in 2000 and have lived and worked in SB ever since. My job is both creative and challenging and I work with some very smart people. Outside of work, I enjoy seeing live music, cooking, surfing, playing soccer, and eating out with friends. I also enjoy travel and have done a fair amount for both work and for vacation. Backpacking in the sierras is one of my favorite destinations and traveling overseas is something I do pretty much every year. In the last ten years I have been to Scotland, Italy, Australia (3 times), Japan, Hawaii, Greece, Canada, El Salvador, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
Ultimately I am looking for a life partner. Along the way, I am guessing that I will also make some new friends and expand my social circles. I would like to be with someone who is smart, curious about the world, open minded, and has a good sense of humor. Ideally they are athletic, take care of themselves, and are excited about what they do. They should be at a point in their lives where they know themselves well enough to understand what makes them happy and are able to communicate those things. And, I am looking for someone who is genuinely a nice person. Being nice goes such a long way. Chemistry is clearly a must...
