Hola! I live in Pittsburgh's east end and work downtown. I like the city for access for work, entertainment and leisure. Or random times like when a big snow hits and everyone is just walking in the streets because they can't drive. A lot of my friends have gotten married, settled down or moved out to the burbs. That's great and I admit getting out of town is absolutely necessary sometimes. But I'm looking to meet someone who is outgoing and wants to enjoy all that this city has to offer.
I work in finance, but I've been working long enough to realize that it isn't how anyone should define themselves. Don't get me wrong, I'm serious about my career. It’s just that approval of a boss, client or anyone else is important, but means nothing if I don't approve of myself. I can always deal with others' disapproval with my results, if I can stand behind my own satisfaction with my effort and intentions.
Getting to that point doesn't start in the workplace. For me, it begins with my faith. I'm not perfect, but I try to attend church regularly and live in a way that pleases God. I hope that doesn't offend or scare you away, but can understand if it does. Spoiler alert: I assure you that I have plenty of flaws that I'm trying to correct before I even think about trying to "fix" you or anyone else.
I enjoy staying in shape and I'm an avid runner. You don't have to be a triathlete, but I'd hope that you like to keep yourself fit and healthy. If I have the choice, I would usually opt to workout outside rather that inside. I love the trails in the city and parks, especially in the fall. I like to play tennis if I can find a partner and an empty court at the Oval. I'm always up for a pick up hoops game at the courts in my neighborhood. I'm no Alberto Tomba, but I've skied the Alps and the Rockies and I'll try anything at Seven Springs (although the moguls sometimes kick my butt). I've been rafting many times, and although it is a blast, I'd like to try kayaking. I'd love to find someone who at least wants to try any of those things.
I love good craft beers - especially Belgians and nice hoppy IPAs. I enjoy plenty of flavors in my food and I'm always up for a new cuisine. Chocolate is fine, but I prefer salty and savory over sweets. Give me the cheese plate over the cheesecake anyday. I hope that you aren't someone who worries about the garlic or onions on your breath, because I love them. I like to cook and make liberal use of both when I do, especially in my salsa.
I like to read, whether that is a book, magazine or newspaper. I enjoy American lit, but tend favor non-fiction. I'm curious about historical, scientific, geopolitical and socioeconomic themes, because I guess those are relevant to our world. I would rather watch a movie than TV, because TV seems like all reality shows, which I'm not really into. I'll like a movie with an interesting plot over one with a big name star or amazing special effects. I usually can't go wrong with a DVD from Dreaming Ant. (Yes DVD, I'm old school.) Of course Curb Your Enthusiasm, South Park or Will Ferrell are always good for a laugh.
I enjoy live music at Club Cafe, Smalls, Rex etc but wish we got some better shows. I can enjoy 80's and kitsch, but there just isn't a lot on the radio that I like. I like a lot of the WYEP playlist, but I'm a bit of a music snob and I'm always looking for new stuff so let me know if you have something good stuck in your head.
Oh, and of course I enjoy Steelers, Pens and Bucs games, but I figured that goes without saying. I do prefer college sports though, probably because I'm a big Pitt fan and Saturdays are better for enjoying a game with a few brews.
That is a lot, but if you made it this far and want to know anything else just email me.
