I grew up in China and then spent most of my adult life in US. I lived in east coast for quite some time and then relocated to bay area. Living in a foreign country has been such an interesting journey that I had challenges and discoveries every day. I definitely came out of my comfort zone and became proactive, adaptable and open-minded. If let me choose again, I would make the same choice of leaving my hometown and following my dream with two hands.
While I enjoyed the academic and professional achievement, what I enjoyed most was connecting with people, having fun and seeing the beauty out of life and nature. I've been to a lot of cities and National Parks in US, Spain, Scotland, France, Caribbean etc. The most memorable trip was to Alaska where I kayaked among icebergs and spotted a whale family. I like to think and prove I am "small" (if you know what I mean) - the world is deeply fascinating, the more I learn, the more is unknown.
Bay area so far has been my favorite place to live. I'm familiar with trails, parks, beaches, lakes all around the bay and of course the best/worst Chinese restaurant. I enjoy riding my bike, hiking, kayaking, dancing or watching people surfing. My favorite routine (for a while) was to bike across the Golden Gate park to the pacific beach, or hike up to the Coit tower or Noe Valley, until I disappeared in the fog.
People describe me as warm, energetic, genuine, brave, bubbly - yes I giggle a lot for simple things. Down to my heart, I care about my family and friends (and their pets) the most. Since I grew up in a community-oriented culture, part of me still like to get involved with surrounding community and contribute as much as I can.
The ideal match for me, would be a sweet, caring and self-confident gentleman, who holds traditional values and knows how to take care of family and friends when time is needed; he has had enough adventures and is ready to start a family. Bonus point if you like spicy food! I hope we can have stimulated conversation and a big laugh at each other (or together) from time to time; cook dinner, learn a new language, dance and travel together.
