Essay:
I've lived in New York for two years after spending most of my life in the deep south (Florida/Texas). I've kept the best parts of my southern upbringing and am the first to give up a seat on the subway/bus, open doors for others, say please and thank you. I'm extremely close to my family back in Texas and talk with them every day. I'm motivated, driven, and know what I want, but I don't take myself too seriously. I'm a typical ENFJ if you care about Myers-Briggs. I'm naturally curious and have always loved the process of learning, both from books and by watching and listening to the world around me. This has inspired travel, lots of career exploration, a handful of degrees, and a healthy bit of nomadism. I strongly believe in finding balance in life. I'm equally happy having a serious conversation about literature or social issues, laughing at silly humor, and being active. A mix of high- and low-brow activities is essential for my sanity. I'm looking for... ...someone with similar enough interests that we can hang out but different enough that we'll both try new things. ...someone who can carry on an intelligent conversation and can make me laugh. Doesn't have to be simultaneous, but both are very important. ...someone who reads. I've dedicated a huge portion of my life to literacy, so I get frustrated by people who don't value reading. It doesn't have to be Shakespeare, just an understanding that reading matters.
