I moved to the area for work and I haven't really made any friends my age. Almost everyone I work with is a lot older and even those that are less-old are at the age where they're getting married and having kids. I'm more comfortable meeting new people through friends (which unfortunately doesn't work well when you move to a new area where you hardly know anyone) but I definitely open up once I get to know someone.
In school I was an avid drinker (Bacardi Monster was my signature drink) - I went to an engineering school and we take 'work hard, play hard' to a new level :-) I'm the type of person that always preferred "staying in" at my fraternity house or going to party rather than going out to a bar. But it was always social drinking, so now that I don't have anyone to drink with, I hardly drink at all anymore.
I spend most of free time now either working out at the gym or just staying home. I end up watching a lot of TV and movies while I'm home but I try to get in a good amount of reading too. I've also recently started getting more into video games b/c that way I can at least virtually hang out with my college friends - but hey, we're all doing online dating, so don't judge :-)
I'm mostly a geek/nerd when it comes to my interests -- I enjoy scifi/fantasy TV, movies, and books and I'm very much a geek when it comes to computers or anything technological. But I'd like to think I'm more of a "normal" geek - I mean how many geeks do you know that do power-lifting every day?
