ABOUT HIM & WHO HE'S LOOKING FOR

IMDb MOVIE LOGLINE: A life-affirming tale of a Marin native’s adventures out east and in LA before he finds his way back home to his roots.

PLOT SUMMARY: We first meet the protagonist as a long-haired hippie kid living in Mill Valley, but adolescence soon takes him to a Colorado ski town, followed by New York for boarding school and Chicago for college. Unleashed upon the world, he heads west, as young men are known to do... all the way to Los Angeles where he eventually finds his niche as a screenwriter. His career thrives. He’s grateful for his good fortune, but he wonders if maybe, just maybe, he can make it all work from San Francisco. Writing is portable, after all, and Virgin America’s SFO-LAX flight is a mere fifty-five minutes. He debates the merits. LA has never exactly been “him”, despite his many good friends there. Finally, in 2005, he takes the leap and is quickly rewarded: he’s busier professionally than he’s ever been, and he’s back where he belongs -- close to family and in the city where he left his heart all those years before. COMMENTS:

"I loved this movie! The ending was a cliffhanger, though, with the hint of a love interest just around the corner." – Beth, Evanston, IL

"Great international flavor! His love for travel. Paris. Working in London. Exactly why I go to the movies. To be transported somewhere!" – Denise, Naples, FL

"Agree with Beth re. love interest. They must be making a sequel. Can't wait to see who he meets. He’s thoughtful and steady. Compassionate. Financially secure. And he takes care of himself physically. Not that that’s important to the plot. Just saying." -- Liz, Stony Brook, NY

"What’s important is his integrity and kindness." – Marcus, London, England

"His friends in the movie were like that, too. I think the filmmakers are trying to say he's drawn to those qualities." -- Gavin, Boulder, CO

"Look at Gavin getting all Roger Ebert-y." – Beth, Evanston, IL

"Loved the dialogue. He's curious. Observant. Oh, and did anyone else get that he loved it when the women in the story felt looked after? It was subtle, but there." – Melissa, Ashville, NC

"Dialogue?? What’s wrong with you people?? The only reason to see this movie is the action. The skiing felt like he’d done it his whole life, and the kiteboarding with his brother was badass." – Curtis, Seattle, WA

"Curtis must have seen a different movie. Dude was crashing all over the Bay". – JD, Fort Worth, TX

Ok, enough. Once I get characters yapping, it’s hard to quiet them down. My own voice for the rest!

Learning, for me, is everything. In recent years, this includes how to resist, at least a little bit, the idea of getting somewhere. We never really "get somewhere." There’s just the journey and how richly we experience it and share it with those we love.

I'm passionate about creative endeavors, whether mine or someone else’s. I'm good at building and fixing things. At remaining calm. Working hard. Protecting. Communicating. Co-planning adventures. Also, French omelets, roasted potatoes and movie trivia.

The chapters I’ve lived include several very long relationships. I’ve always wanted to be married and have a family, but we all have our own timing. While mine has surprised me, I’m grateful for it for so many reasons. Most of all, I love where I am in my life today and can’t wait to share it with a future best friend and partner.

I'm open to who that person might be and excited to meet her. I do know she'll be ready to build a life with someone and open to exploring having a family.
