"Not your father's next girlfriend" Atypical in some ways, traditional in others. --Smart, friendly, caring, open-minded, adventurous, honest, hardworking and quirky. And if you want to read: I'm from NY and have lived in the burbs, upstate and four of the five boroughs. (Maybe one day, Staten Island!) I've also studied in Paris and worked in Tokyo. I've never given birth or bought property, but i've completely filled up a passport! Cliche, but actually true: I'm a work-hard-play-hard kind of gal and get along well with others like that. Quite serious about my career, but lucky that my work can be serious fun. A typical week includes sharing secrets, showing off and tasting things, especially food and drinks. I also help run a non-profit for those in my profession and love to get my zumba on. I know a little bit about a lot and a lot about a little. I love discussing it all -- old-skool hip-hop vs new, Scotch vs bourbon, GAAP reporting vs pro-forma, science vs faith. I'm in the news biz, so i'm keen on current events and history but not conspiracy theories or doomsday scenarios. Not super-trendy, but often complimented on my style, especially jewelry. I did once take it too far, and a colleague confessed that he once thought i looked like a "tropical bird". I mean, toucans are cute, aren't they? I'm funny (at least in my head) and I'm definitely fun -- always down for an adventure. I've triumphantly survived Burningman, a cross-country road trip with only one tape (the Cranberries...not mine), building a house in african countryside, a week of trekking in the Himalayas, and the Barneys Co-op Sale. I've climbed the tallest peaks in four states and have a mind to do 46 more. I have a soft spot for new neighborhoods, old souls, serendipity and people who are polite on the subway. I'm good at languages, plants, conversation, dancing, decorating, kissing, editing, telling jokes (sometimes) and googling. Not so good at math, discipline, whistling, paper airplanes, trapeze, getting up early, meditating. I'm open-minded about people, and have friends of all colors, shapes and ages. I'm attracted to that quality in others. Like the rest of the 99 percent, I'm looking for someone who can complement me, who is just as happy in his life as I am in mine. Someone who is willing to communicate, grow, evolve, respect and trust. Ideally he would be smart, funny, honest, open-minded, successful, aware, confident and adventurous. Stylish, athletic and well-traveled are big pluses. Not a big fan of bigots, snobs, fascists, mean people, super right-wingers, or liars. And i'm really looking for sparks. Bring your lighter!
