SF native, but in LA for the year to finish up my doctorate degree this August...
Occasional north face wearing - daydreaming about the next stamp in my passport - happy in front of a cozy fire place listening to the rain on a stormy night - new transplant from SF. Looking to explore the city and maybe find conversations that don't have to do with traffic.
Some things that make me all warm and fuzzy inside:
Travel, apparently like everyone else on this site (but if you don't like getting on a plane or jumping in the car to see something different, try something outside of your comfort zone - this is a deal breaker for me) nothing beats getting lost in a new city or being flooded by a different culture, concerts, theatre, working out, scuba diving, farmers markets. NHL playoffs. Dessert before dinner. Urban walks and mountain hikes. My new puppy. Spontaneous adventures. Oyster shucking. Waking up at 5am to meander through a flea market. Making the most of the day. Throwing a dinner party for my close friends because I somehow every time I cook it looks like I'm serving an army. Tossing on a dress and a pair of heels to check out a great new restaurant, an opera, or something over the top just because it's Tuesday. Sometimes I am a book worm - leave me in bookstore and I can disappear for hours. But most of the time I just like to spend time good friends, a good book or movie, or a glass of wine I can throw ridiculous adjectives at, like asphalt or vinous. Intrigued by architecture and design. I'm always up to try something new, and I'll try anything twice (except maybe tripe, the stomach flu in India, and getting hit by a single-engine plane....seriously).
I have an amazing family and two parents who are still very much in love. I value education in any form that it comes. I love to laugh, often at myself. I have an incredibly satisfying career and am finishing off another, what will be my last, degree, which takes up a lot of my time. I have a very full life and feel incredibly blessed - would love to meet an amazing person to share it with, so - with some apprehension - trying this out for a bit...
