So my first mistake in life was leaving SoCal (LA, to be exact) to go back east for college. (Yes, my first 18 years of life were mistake-free, at least according to my mom). Before I knew it, four years of college turned into over a decade of living in NYC. Not that there was anything wrong with NYC or my life there (to paraphrase Jerry Seinfeld). But it wasn't San Diego or LA. To be sure, it was a great adventure. First law school. Then working my way up the ladder at a law firm. Then leaving to start my own real estate company and open a restaurant on the LES.
Luckily, when I started my most recent venture (an online language learning company) with a friend from childhood, he insisted that we set up shop in San Diego. He didn't need to twist my arm -- I was more than ready to return to sunny SoCal. I've been back for eight months and it has been bliss. Sun, beaches, amazing Mexican food, sushi that ain't too shabby, and great peeps. What can I say? Well, I can quote Borat and say: I LIKE!!! And if given the chance, that's exactly what I would do.
Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone - we find it with another.
