“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right ... and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” - Marilyn Monroe.
I'm an optomist who stays that way by finding reasons when bad things happen. It's important to me that I surround myself with people who enjoy life. Of course I don't expect anyone to be happy all the time, but finding something to appreciate or be thankful for when times are tough is important to me.
I've lived in Brooklyn for 5 years and love it here. I grew up in rural NJ and while it's pretty and peaceful, I found it a bit boring and left in 2002 for the Bronx and college and haven't lived there full-time since then. I know I'm lucky, though, that my family is close enough to visit whenever I want to need to.
I like wine but am not a wine-o, like food but am not a foodie. I like animals (have a cat and a dog - please don't be allergic!) and kids (I work in an elementary school so I'd better like kids). I love the city and also love taking a break from it sometimes. I love learning about new cultures and would often prefer traveling to do so over traveling to sit at an all-inclusive resort (not that I'm opposed to all-inclusive, especially during mid-winter break from work). I like to get out but during the week it's sometimes difficult, depending on what point in the school year it is.
I'm trustworthy, honest, sarcastic, easily amused...things I would hope for in someone I date.
I have a couple best friends and many close friends. Dating someone who also has a social life is important to me. If it's the right person you have time for them, so my friends would never get in the way of a relationship...but my relationship would never ruin friendships. Hopefully you know what I mean.
