Essay:
I am a Microbiology graduate student. I am very passionate about my work and about science education. Truth be told, I am someone who can easily get lost in my work. Occasionally, I can be pulled out after I start, but that's a difficult task for most people. At the heart of work-aholic behavior, is a love of my research and my studies. It would be much easier to hide this, but that would make me dishonest or, in other words, something am I not. Like my involvement in my work, my drive and passion extends to all hobbies and chores. I am devoted to my family and actually enjoy spending time with them when I can. My side hobby is art; I like trying new media and different disciplines. I also enjoy being outdoors, from camping to boating, lounging to hiking. Though I don't have much time for it, reading is a hobby when I need to clear my mind. And Half Price Books is nirvana. When I have the time, I like to travel and see new sites. I have been to Europe, Canada, and some parts of the United States but I would love to continue to explore. I enjoy politics and citizenship. I am very opinionated in this regard and try to volunteer when I can. Whether it be for a campaign or a cause, I find enjoyment in donating my time. Above all else, I like to laugh and find the silver lining in the seemingly darkest moments. I am witty and sarcastic, two major parts of my personality that are not well hidden. Despite my skepticism for websites such as this, I am curious to see what this alternative route has to offer. So to answer the main question: "what am I looking for?": Someone who is equally as driven and motivated. On the same note, I look for someone with humility and a similarly dry sense of humor. Someone who can keep up with me always wins extra brownie points. At the end of the day, your goals and achievements are just that unless there's someone to share all of it with. :)
