What I Value… (in no particular order)
Family: I belong to a large, close-knit, crazy family. We not only love each other—most families love each other—we actually like each other too. I have nieces and a nephew that I adore. My extended family has killer holiday parties, with 4th of July and Christmas being our specialties. Those include the annual summer games and euchre tournament respectively. My immediate family enjoys time together each summer at Lake Michigan and each fall in Brown County.
Friendships: I am fortunate to have a wonderful group of supportive and loyal friends. We definitely know how to laugh together. We enjoy trying new restaurants, going to festivals, watching Indians and Colts games, and doing tastings at local wineries and breweries. I have a few friends that I travel with each year, mostly out west to CO and OR.
Faith: I firmly believe ‘to each his own’, but my faith is important to me, and I would appreciate being with someone who is at least supportive of that.
Fun: Like most people, I love to have fun and enjoy life. I prefer to surround myself with happy people and of course I love to laugh. My ‘favorite’ TV shows and movies are anything that makes me laugh out loud—Modern Family, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock—pretty much anything that has a former SNL player in it.
Food: I. Love. Food. Seriously. One of the most enjoyable parts of travelling for me is experiencing unique regional fare. But really, I love anything from McDonald’s fries to a creative dish at Zest. I very much enjoy cooking, but find it difficult to feel I am good at it when I am cooking for one.
Service: Serving others is important to me. I enjoy volunteering for a variety of causes and events. I travel to Haiti every few years to take part in service projects and to utilize my skills as a physical therapist. This work is in my blood. I do not expect to be with someone who would also be willing to travel to Haiti, but I would appreciate being with someone who is supportive of me doing it.
The Environment: One quote sums up my feelings on this subject pretty well… “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” –Native American Proverb.
My profession: I love being a physical therapist. I love even more that I have the fortune of working with really amazing children and their families every day.
Being active: I enjoy walking my dog, hiking, riding my bike, taking part in Zumba and yoga classes, and of course soccer. Besides my family, soccer may be my longest-standing relationship. I have been playing since I was six and I do not plan to stop anytime soon. I also enjoy participating in other team sports.
Being young at heart: Sometimes being an adult stinks. So I make it a point to revisit being a kid. I still hunt for my Easter basket, dress up for Halloween, and Santa still fills a stocking for me. Guess Who? Is a GREAT game—for all ages—and I admittedly own bubbles and sidewalk chalk.
Animals: I would never own a crazy number of pets, but I do love animals and I go out of my way to care for them. I save baby birds and I pull my car over to grab dogs that are loose. It is what it is.
If your values are anywhere near the same, then I would love to hear from you!
