Not so convinced that Match will find my soulmate but if it does somehow; its worth every penny. There are obviously lots of beautiful women in San Diego but attraction to me is much more than skin deep. My partner doesn't need to be into the same sports as me but athletic is a huge bonus. At this point in my life all thats missing is someone to share my experiences and travels with.... someone to wake up next to and do nice things for and for no other reason than it makes her happy. I'm an old fashioned, romantic at heart but don't tell my buddies cause they think I'm gettin soft (smirk). I grew up in Michigan and moved to CA. after high school. Since then I have also lived in Colorado and Montana but I moved back here just over a year ago to accept a good job. I enjoy most all sports and outdoor activities so if you are outdoorsy also we should get along quite well. I pride myself on being very well rounded and accomplished while staying modest but confident. I realize that no matter how good we are at any skill, there is always someone better, thus room for improvement. Family is important to me which is largely why I came back here to SD where most of my siblings and their kids live. Although I don't have any kids; I do have lots of nieces and nephews whom I love and adore. Some things you may like to know about my background - I spent 10 years competing on a ski jumping tour called Gelande. Its the same as nordic jumping only we jump on alpine skis. Proud to say I have flown over 320 ft at 64 mph over 50 times and it was probably the biggest thrill of my entire life. I also teach whitewater kayaking as a volunteer to cancer victims through a organization called First Descents which a friend of mine started who is a pro kayaker. When I was in Winter Park, Colorado, I volunteered for their handicapped ski program which was awesome and very rewarding! Years ago I also was a volunteer member of a nordic ski patrol which was responsible for backcountry search and rescue for lost or wounded skiers, boarders and snowmobilers. I still play hockey twice a week in Escondido which helps keep me fit and its one of my favorite past times. Another thing which continues to affect me is that I was in a major avalanche in 2002 where my friend had to dig me out and recusitate me bringing me back to life. Thus, I feel genuinely lucky to be alive and appreciate life's unique moments even more that before. Aside from athletics, I am a former log furniture builder and have spent time in several fields of construction so I guess you could say I'm pretty handy around the house. I've also had some desk jobs in the computer industry but I can't sit still and be inside for that much of the day and stay sane. Thus, I've followed my heart and my passions and I don't regret one minute of any day because it has made me the man I am today. The reason I'm here at Match is that I no longer know very many people here in SD so I'm hoping to meet some good peeps and maybe connect with someone special. Might that be you??? By the way, I'm actually 47. I tend to have the most in common with women between 35 and 40 but I am open minded and hang out with people from all ages and ethnicities. I wish you all the best of luck in your search!!!
