I'm a relatively recent transplant to Charlotte, I moved here about 3 years ago after living in 4 states in 8 years. I'm definitely here for a while, and so far I love the region. I grew up in southwest Virginia and like to go home to visit, though I probably don't do it often enough. My friends would describe me as funny, smart, creative and talkative, but I'm a bit shy when I'm new to a situation or in an unfamiliar group. I have a few very close and tight-knit friends that I could call on for anything, and I am very loyal in return. I work in the financial/real estate world, but I'm a creative type by nature, I majored in Art (before an MBA) and still have a studio in my house that I really enjoy...though the studio is usually a mess of 7 different projects. I also enjoy being around good company, trying new things, hitting the bars on occasion, all that good stuff. I like being around others and socializing, but need alone time to recharge. I ran a marathon a year and a half ago and while I still like running, anything over 13-ish miles will mean I'm going to take a more efficient mode of transportation. Glad I did it, but I don't miss training taking up a large part of my free time. I like working out and keeping in shape, but I'm not exactly competitive in it and I enjoy my downtime as well and wouldn't consider myself a gym rat. I bought a house last year and have become pretty handy at fixing things around the house, so it occupies a lot of my time. What am I looking for? I don't have an exact "type", but I know it when I see it, I suppose. After looking at my grandparents' marriage, the common denominator I've found to be most successful in someone I'm looking for is someone who can make me laugh. So...make me laugh, keep a good conversation, and don't be a jerk. What, tall order?
